One-Off Feature

Villa del Faro is a unique oasis of eight small houses, nestled on a deserted beach on the Sea of Cortez in Mexico. Created as a labour of love by artisans and architects on twelve acres of gardens and desert, it overlooks miles of deserted beach.

General Info

Villa del Faro is one hour north of the Los Cabos Airport, but it is a world away in seclusion and serenity. We offer eight very private casitas from the Stone Beach Cottage to the elegant Casa Alberca. A holiday in an eco house is not for everyone. Villa Del Faro offers solitude, long walks on one of the only swimmable beaches on the east cape, hikes into the deep arroyos, good books, great food, artistry, music, exquisite surroundings, comfortable ambiance, the sound of the ocean to put you to sleep, watching the whales play from your private balcony, and personal care from the friendly family who run and own it. A stay in this beautiful place is more like being a guest in someone’s fabulous home, which is exactly what the owners intended.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

Villa del Faro is an oasis nestled in the desert on the edge of the Sea of Cortez in Baja California. Turtles nest on our beaches, you can swim and surf all year long. There is incredible snorkelling here and while the hotel sits in lush gardens, the surrounding desert is as pristine and untouched as it can be. The great white egret lives in our dunes and the great blue heron number among our sea birds and eagles. Nature abounds!

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
There are only eight rentable spaces, each one quite different. The Casa Alberca is a beautiful palapa with canopied king-size bed, 1 and 1/2 bathrooms, full kitchen, and elegant living room that opens right onto the large mosaic pool. Off the bedroom a balcony looks out over the Sea of Cortez. The Stone Beach Cottage sits literally right on the beach. There is a comfy queen-size bed, solar lighting, a fireplace. It has a definite fairy tale quality - a house for Bilbo Baggins! The Casitas (one of which has two suites) sit up the hill. Each offers a fireplace, full bath, and has its own private terrace overlooking the ocean. Hand-carved furniture, gorgeous rugs, tiled floors, original art and beamed ceilings combine to make this a truly wonderful place to stay.  It's fabulous as a group venue too - sleeping up to 20 people in total.

Exterior Details
While the hotel sits in lush gardens, the surrounding desert is as pristine and untouched as it can be. Originally a private home for a large extended family, Villa del Faro was built, as much as possible, around the cactus, leaving many trees and natural plants untouched. Always aware of the ecological impact they were making, the family chose to build little houses here and there, rather than one huge imposing structure. The result is a closeness to the desert, a sort of interaction between civilization and the wildness of nature.

Further Details
There are no half measures here - a holiday in an eco house here is truly
