If you’re looking for a traditional cabin in the mountains then this is it – this family log home is cosy, comfortable and just a stone’s throw from all of Mount Baker’s recreation areas and outdoor pursuits.
With three bedrooms, an open country kitchen and simple homely furnishings, Cabin 10 is a lovely old-style wooden chalet in a beautiful mountain location. And on your doorstep is a wonderful array of open-air activities that make the most of the natural surroundings. This is an excellent base from which to explore Mount Baker.
If you’re looking for fresh air, scenic landscapes and outdoor pursuits then Mount Baker is a fantastic destination. For a start it is a hiker’s paradise and the mountain hosts numerous walking routes of varying difficulties - not least part of the famous Pacific Crest trail, which goes right through the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Those in search of gentler pursuits can enjoy fishing for wild salmon in the Nooksack River and boating on Silver Lake, or if you want to get the adrenalin pumping then you can go white water rafting, mountain biking, climbing, hunting, skiing, snowboarding or snow-shoeing. And at the end of a long day of exploring you can settle into one of the area’s excellent restaurants before heading back to your cosy cabin.
The office is located at 7463 Mt. Baker Highway, in the town of Maple Falls, 0.5 miles east of mile marker 25. This is where you check in and get keys to your cabin. If you’re coming from Seattle (driving time 2 hours), proceed north on Interstate 5 to exit 255 (Sunset Drive - Mt. Baker Highway) in Bellingham, WA. At the end of the off ramp, turn right, heading east on Mt Baker Hwy 542 to our office in Maple Falls. If you’re coming from Vancouver (driving time 1.5 hours), proceed south on Highway 99 to the Canada/USA border. Then take Interstate 5 south to exit 255.
