Only 50 km south-east of Merida, but a lifetime away in terms of culture and pace of life. Close to cenotes (sacred mayan underground lakes) and archaeological sites.
Sac Nicté is set back from the village of Chunkanán, and consists of three Mayan-style casitas with palapa roofs designed to be cool and fresh in the summer, and warm and cosy in the cooler winter months. The main house has a dining area, a fully equipped kitchenette, and a place to hang two hammocks. The adjoining terrace is a perfect place to sit beside the pool overlooking the extensive tropical gardens. The bedroom house has space to hang two hammocks, and the bathroom house has a shower with hot running water. There are no beds, and guests sleep in comfortable cotton hammocks. Ideal for two people, two couples travelling together, or a family of four, it is possible to hang two more hammocks, giving accommodation for up to six guests. Perfectly located for exploring the many cenotes in the area, it also makes a good base for visiting Mayan archaeological sites, especially Mayapán and Acancéh.

Although most guests say that it is the first time they have slept in hammocks, they all agree that it is very comfortable, and the perfect way to keep cool in the summer. Sleeping in a hammock is part of the experience of staying at Sac Nicté. You feel you are floating above the ground, while the mysterious sounds of the tropical night lull you to sleep.
Sac Nicté is set in a private compound of tropical gardens. An acre of fruit trees, mango, papaya, orange, coconut, etc. and colourful flowers, it attracts many different species of bird, and is ideal for bird-watching. The large pool is filled with sparkling well water, and because it is open to the sun all day long, it is possible to swim all year round. There is an outside barbecue area, and the terrace has comfortable deck chairs for lounging beside the pool.
