Accommodation for 2 - 7 people, Buganvilias is a lovely place to stay. Sitting in 5 acres of private land in the heart of the beautiful Costa Vicentina Natural Park. Secluded and peaceful,it is still only 1,5km from two lovely beaches. Charming house in the field, with organic vegetables to share, a terrace shaded by ancient buganvilia. Hidden in a garden, a cottage, brought back to life.
Gardens alive with flowers and swooping swallows, doves, blackbirds, sparrows, and occasionally two or three storks tearing up the sky slowly flying towards the nests at the top of the cliffs of the coast. Inside, everything is functional, wooden ceilings, large comfortable beds, prints by Picasso, kandisnsky, Miró, against white walls, coming from a old collection, belonging to the owners. The kitchen has basic toaster has a fridge, coffee machine, etc., and has everything you need for dining inside or on the terrace, around an old wooden table. View from the window of the house is so beautiful, you will be rooted. Also available during the pleasantly mild winter months. Enjoy a cosy night in with a book or movie by the antique wood stove, or take a stroll on the many neighbouring pathways and take in the crisp fresh air.
One of the most precious pieces of Portugal's patrimony is the Sudoeste Alentejano and Costa Vicentina, a majestic sweep of coastline and hinterland that stretches from S. Torpes near Sines in the north to the border of the Algarve at Odeceixe to Sagres and the rural district of Vila do Bispo in the south west. Declared a protected zone by the Government in 1995, it is a place of wild, rugged landscape where nature combines with history to create a unique and often awe-inspiring effect. The park embraces an area of about 75,000 hectares and comprises a vast strip some 2kms wide running parallel to the coast, the mountainous terrain of Serra do Espinhaço and Serra de Monchique, and the western interior region. The park contains no fewer than 750 species of flora, 12 of which, in the Sagres area, are unique in the world, and at least three flowers are named after the Cape St Vincent (Scilla vicentina, Centaurea vicentina and Biscutella vicentina).
