The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

Sweetwater Lodge is located in the rural community of Julatten, on the doorstep of Port Douglas and The Great Barrier Reef, on the fringe of the Atherton Tablelands and at the gateway to Cape York Peninsula. Julatten is reputed to have one of the top ten climates in the world and it is perfectly placed for exploring the surrounding region including Cairns, Port Douglas, Daintree National Park, Cape Tribulation, Cooktown, Kuranda, and the Tropical Tablelands. And there are endless activities to enjoy – go fishing, kayaking, bushwalking and horse riding, explore National parks, gardens and museums, get up in the air in a helicopter or hot air balloon, play golf, spot birds and wildlife, take photos, have a massage, take a guided tour or sample the local shops, markets and restaurants.

Interior Details
The retreats are well appointed with modern conveniences and are fitted throughout with custom-made furniture built from North Queensland timbers. Local artwork adds to the ambience and every effort has been made to ensure your absolute comfort. The accommodation comprises a king size bed, an en-suite bathroom with spa bath, a cosy living area and a whole host of thoughtful little extras, from a log fire and a picnic hamper to fresh flowers, bathroom amenities, kitchen provisions and a selection of books and DVDs. Complimentary internet access from owners' residence only.

Exterior Details
The two retreats are perched on a hill in an open setting overlooking the rainforest and creek beyond. Set apart by 50m, they are set in landscaped tropical gardens and each retreat has a verandah with al fresco kitchen facilities, a BBQ, a dining table and chairs. Down at the creek you will find a hammock to swing in, a Platypus Pond where you can paddle, and a central fireplace with BBQ where you can watch the sun go down and have a picnic. The 160 acre property is part cleared, part rainforest and is surrounded by the Mt Frazer and Mt Lewis mountain range, which is part of the World Heritage Listed Wet Tropics region.

Further Details
Breakfast hampers are available upon request for an additional charge. Retreats are serviced after 7 days to ensure guests privacy. Daily servicing and laundry are also available at an additional charge.

Conditions of Rental
A deposit of 20% is required to confirm your booking with the balance payable upon arrival. Check in is from 2pm and check out is 11am. All rates include flowers, fresh tea and locally grown coffee, herbal teas, biscuits, sugar, milk, a selection of herbs and spices, flour, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, spray cooking oil, salt and cracked black pepper, and bathroom amenities.
