Menorca

Despite the arrival of mass tourism in the Balearic Islands in the last few decades, Menorca (or Minorca, whichever way you prefer to spell it) has managed to remain relatively unspoilt, and an excellent location for those in search of a more private and secluded holiday rental property. Just off the south east coast of mainland Spain and less than two hours flying time from the UK, it is the perfect place for a sunshine break and to find a suitable holiday rental.

Most of the beach resorts are situated on the island’s south coast, so if bustling and busy is your thing, then head for the south. In contrast though, the north coast is rugged and wild, with beautiful secluded horseshoe bays and picturesque marinas, and there’s still a good choice of holiday rentals here. For nature lovers, it’s a great spot as the island is registered as a UNESCO biosphere reserve. For those after some activity, there are endless opportunities for watersports, from diving and snorkelling to sailing and fishing. The beautiful scenery also make it perfectly suited for walkers and cyclists. Mount Toro, 354 metres above sea level is Menorca’s only mountain and a visit to the 17th century sanctuary of the Mare de Deu del Toro is to be recommended, as the views from the top are fantastic. Because it’s such a relatively small island, wherever your holiday rental, it does not take long to travel to other areas. Menorca’s Mediterranean climate makes it a viable holiday destination for several months of the year
