One-Off Feature

The Coach House is a family-friendly, traditional Irish cottage, the larger of 3 unique and individual stone cottages on the owners' farm. The setting is lovely - with mature trees, and extensive lawns. A warm welcome is assured at this tranquil rural haven which makes a comfortable base for touring the South East of Ireland.

General Info

The Coach House is a three-hundred year old building which was converted and extended in 1995 into a comfortable family home. Visitors generally comment on the warm welcome at Fruit Hill; the tranquillity of the place, and the space and sense of freedom it affords. With a blazing fire in the grate, and plenty of books and board games as well as TV and DVD, some visitors leave the house only to stroll around the garden. There's plenty to see and do in this unexploited and friendly corner of Ireland however, and within an hour's drive of Fruit Hill you will reach Waterford, Wexford or Killkenny City: there are fourteen sandy beaches to chose from, as well as coastal walks, gardens and abbeys. Approved by the Irish Tourist Board, Failte Ireland to 4 star standard, you are assured of every comfort. The other cottages sleep 4 and 2, and all three can be rented together for larger gatherings.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

Most visitors to Fruit Hill love the tour of the Dunbrody Famine Ship in nearby New Ross. The Hook Lighthouse is unfailingly popular - the oldest light house in Europe. JF Kennedy Arboretum is a beautiful park very near Fruit Hill, and the unspoiled beaches around the Hook peninsula are something for Wexford to be proud of. Ruined Abbeys, pleasant drives, and shopping trips to nearby towns make this a great spot for a traditional holiday. Golf, fishing, riding and sailing are available nearby and there are 14 sandy beaches within easy driving distance (10-25 minutes). Local pubs have regular music sessions and there are several very good restaurants in the area. Historical sites nearby include 12th century abbeys, The Hook Lighthouse, Duncannon Fort and the Tall Ship "Dunbrody". J.F. Kennedy Arboretum, Dunbrody Abbey and Kilmokea Gardens.
