General Info

Whether you’re here for a family holiday, a relaxing getaway with friends or a celebration, the Moulin offers a haven of space, tranquillity, facilities and wildlife in arguably one of the most beautiful regions of France. The seven en-suite bedrooms can accommodate up to 15 people, the private grounds spread out over 11 lovely acres and the area is full of historic and natural attractions. If your idea of a perfect break involves walking, swimming, eating, sunbathing, cycling, golfing and exploring then you’ve found just the place.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The Ariege area is full of activities and attractions and near the Moulin you will find a falconry display in an old cathar castle, thermal baths at Ax-les-Thermes, a museum of hand crafts at La Forge de Pyrenees, grottos full of cave drawings, underground rivers and a butterfly farm. History buffs will want to visit the cathar sites at Montsegur, Peyrepertuse and Queribus, and St Lizier, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a beautiful medieval town full of cafes and restaurants to while away a few hours in. There are lots of wonderful markets to visit, not least St Girons, and the activities on offer range from walking, cycling, golfing and pony trekking to white water rafting, fly fishing and bungee jumping.

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
The Moulin retains lots of character but it has been tastefully and lovingly converted to provide all the modern features and home comforts you could need for a stress-free holiday. On the ground floor there is a semi-professional kitchen as well as a vast open-plan lounge, dining room and entrance hall with a bar, a large table and a log burning stove. Two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor and the remainder are on the first floor, along with a library with tea and coffee making facilities. All rooms are provided with hair dryers and towels.

Exterior Details
The main lounge leads out to a covered terrace where there is seating for 24 diners, a seating area overlooking the mill race two BBQs – one wood fired and one gas fired. The private grounds around the house cover 11 acres and are a mixture of formal lawns, flower beds, herb gardens, orchards, meadows and woods full of wildlife, as well as a heated swimming pool surrounded by loungers. Around the pool area there is a badminton court, a table tennis table and an outside chess board and in front of the terrace you can play croquet and boules. The Arize river runs alongside the gardens and there is even an island around which you can wild swim and bird watch.  There is a sauna and hot tub out on 'the island' between the river and the millrace.  Both wood fuelled, and surrounded by twinkling fairy lights, they are set in a gorgeous little bit of woodland full of flowers.

Further Details
A welcome wine pack will be waiting for you and if you don’t want to worry about shopping before your holiday the owners can (for a small fee) do that for you.
