A perfect spot for lovers of nature, and families and friends who love the great outdoors.
A unique contrast from the picture-postcard properties of Dubrovnik and the coast, this property offers a glimpse into life in continental Croatia. The house itself blends a retro look with modern comforts, with surrounding private land that stretches over meadows, orchards, river and forest. And the setting is one of outstanding natural beauty, quiet and unspoilt yet also lively with fresh air, adrenalin-fuelled pursuits and places of historic and cultural interest. If you’re looking for a proper escape in a genuinely lovely and wholesome part of the world then the Old Oak House is the place for you.
The house sits on a huge riverside property which incorporates a large forest, and as such there are numerous activities available on site. Hiking, fishing, hunting, mountain biking and kayaking are all popular pastimes here. Off site, the Plitvice Lakes National Park (a UNESCO world heritage site) is nearby, as are the cities of Karlovac (25km) and Zagreb (the capital). There’s something for nature-lovers and urbanites alike.
The estate is situated about 80km (one hour’s drive) from Zagreb where you will find International Pleso airport. The Erak estate and the rustic oak house are located by the Korana River in the village Koranska Strana (municipality Barilović).

The house was built using old oak, bricks, stone and roofing pile but is also insulated with rockwool and well equipped for contemporary living. Set over three floors (each of which is 50m2), the house has a living room with a fireplace, a kitchen with a dining area and a bathroom on each floor. It is fitted throughout with rustic furniture and there is a stove in every bedroom.
There is a large balcony (40m2) with two BBQs and within the grounds you will find a spring with clean drinking water, a workshop, an orchard full of fruit trees and a vegetable garden, not to mention the river, a waterfall and an area of woodland. Sit down on the private pier to listen to the waterfall and watch the river go by.
The Erak estate and the rustic oak house are in the centre of three peaks, within the triangle of the towns of Karlovac, Ogulin and Slunj.
