One-Off Feature

Villa Alexandra has so many wonderful features that it is hard to say which is the most appealing. Is it the cool, classic interior and stunning architecture, the serene location, the large walled garden full of scented blossoms or the pampering for which it is famous? Whichever it is, you will fall in love with this piece of paradise.

General Info

If you want to stay somewhere truly special, this is the place for you. Villa Alexandra is one of Marrakech’s most beautiful and comfortable country houses and it doesn’t take long to see why. The villa, which is split into the Main House and the Pavilion, was built 70 years ago by a French Colonel and was completely renovated in 2003 using lots of local, traditional materials. Nowadays, its style is very Mediterranean, with light spacious rooms and decorative plasterwork, and you will find silk wall hangings in the bedrooms and 1930s Egyptian wall hangings and mother-of-pearl inlaid Syrian mirrors in the drawing room. At night, the front of the villa, drive and fountain are lit by candlelight lanterns, the palm trees in the garden are illuminated, and the effect is simply magical. Villa Alexandra is your own private hotel where you can relax and allow yourself to be completely spoilt.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The villa is 13km outside Marrakech so you can enjoy the stillness of the countryside and yet still be so close to the city that you can almost taste it. Marrakech is a fascinating and vibrant place - wander round the souks of the old Medina, savour delicious Moroccan cuisine, and sample the lively nightlife. Outside the city, Ourika is a fertile, scenic valley which has a fantastic Berber market on Mondays. Just beyond this are the High Atlas Mountains, which offer endless walking and riding opportunities. Nearby, the 5 cascades of Setti Fatma provide a more challenging excursion and there are also numerous golf courses in the area. Oukaimeden, the best ski resort, is just a 90 minute drive, and the great reservoir of Lalla Takerkoust, where water sports are available, is 30 minutes away. For a longer excursion, head for Essaouira, a pretty fishing port less than a 3 hour drive away. Here you can enjoy beaches, windsurfing, bird-watching and oyster catching.

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
The villa can sleep up to 12 guests in 7 bedrooms, all of which are en-suite. The Main House can accommodate 8 and features a large entrance hall, a dining room which can seat 12, a drawing room with a fireplace and French windows onto a large terrace, and a library and TV room with Sky TV, a DVD player and internet access. The two double bedrooms have terraces and the two double/twin rooms have fireplaces – all the bedrooms have air-conditioning and ceiling fans. A long hallway leads to the roof terrace which has 2 seating areas, one with a wrought iron dining table for 6, and the other with cushioned stone benches and Zelige tables under a pergola, for up to 20 people. The Pavilion can accommodate 4 and has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchenette and a private terrace. There is also an extra twin bedroom in the Pool House, should it be required.

Exterior Details
The villa is surrounded by a mature 5 acre garden, full of palm trees, olive trees (we make our own olive oil), citrus and fruit trees as well as a flourishing Potagerie (vegetable and herb garden). The scent of roses, mimosa and jasmine hangs in the air and the garden, with its large fountain, is a sanctuary for varied birdlife. All around the villa you will find terraces – one perfect for every time of day. Eat breakfast in the morning sun, read in the lengthening shadows of the afternoon and enjoy the warm, tranquil atmosphere. Just outside the house is a 20m by 5m swimming pool, which has a ‘beach’ area that children will love and plenty of sunbeds and parasols so you can while away an afternoon by the water. The pool house has a drinks fridge, a ping pong table, a changing area, a shower and a WC so you really don’t need to leave! The grounds also contain a clay tennis court which is well-maintained with racquets available.
