One-Off Feature

Located in the fashionable Dar El Bashah district of the Medina, a short walk from the main square, Riad Papillon is an intimate and luxurious riad with five stylish rooms, a dipping pool and a fantastic roof terrace complete with sun beds, dining areas and a Moroccan tent.

General Info

Riad Papillon is a boutique hotel in the antique district of Marrakech near the Pasha Glaoui Palace, and it provides a tranquil oasis in the heart of this vibrant city. Explore the bustling markets and squares during the day and then retreat to your little piece of paradise, complete with a dipping pool in which to cool off, a patio courtyard where you can sip tea and relax, and a stunning terrace looking out over the rooftops. The five guest rooms are all uniquely decorated and superbly equipped, the food is fresh and delicious and the staff will bend over backwards to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. This is the way to see Marrakech in style.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The riad is located at the end of Derb Tizougarine a quiet side street, only a few hundred yards away from the most exclusive antique shops in Marrakech, and just an 8 minute stroll through the souks to the Jemaa el Fna. The area is very fashionable (the nearby palace is often used to accommodate visiting heads of state) and it is always safe, even late at night. The best juice bar and the most outstanding patisserie in town are both just a moment from your door. Marrakech has so much to offer that it is hard to narrow it down. Haggle in the famous souks, visit the splendid mosques and museums, sample mouth-watering Moroccan cuisine, visit Bahia Palace, try some of the restaurants and cafes in the newer parts of town, and marvel at the crafts on offer. Marrakech really is a feast for the senses.

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
The riad has five bedrooms, all of which have en suite shower rooms, air-conditioning, mini fridges, personal safes, complimentary toiletries, towels and bathrobes, flat screen TVs with satellite channels, iPod docks, hairdryers and a host of other comforts. All rooms can be prepared as queen-size doubles or generous twins and the Egyptian cotton bedding is sumptuous and satin soft. You enter each room through a traditional panelled timber door under a Moroccan arch, through walls that are several feet thick. The bedrooms, named after native flowers visited by butterflies, each have their own style and character but all have a cool, calm, relaxing atmosphere. On the first floor there is a sitting room, a traditional ‘Bhou’ which is open to the patio and courtyard. The floor is tiled and there is a tadelakt fireplace in the corner.

Exterior Details
The riad has a gorgeous, atmospheric roof terrace complete with a fountain, a BBQ and sun loungers. It is a delightful place to have breakfast or while away a balmy evening and there is a designated smoking area up here. There is also a shaded courtyard on the ground floor with a dipping pool and comfortable seating areas. These outdoor areas are exactly what you need after a day out and about in the hot, dusty city.

Further Details
The riad has been painstakingly restored working using traditional materials and craftsmen, while incorporating contemporary conveniences like an iPod docking station and WiFi. The dedicated Moroccan staff speak fluent English, as well as French and Arabic, and they really cannot do enough for you. Our concierge service offers advice and support with all aspects of your trip to Marrakech and we offer the loan of a local pay as you go mobile (one per room) to allow you to stay in touch with the riad throughout your stay. A delicious Moroccan breakfast is served at a time of your choice – this varies but can include crepes, croissants and pastries, breads from the local bakery, honey and jams, yoghurt, eggs, and fresh fruit salad, as well as tea, coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. Lunch and evening meals can also be provided for an extra cost (about 100 dirhams per person for lunch and 200 dirhams per person for a 3 course evening meal). We offer a range of traditional Moroccan dishes and all menus can be adapted to your requirements. There is even a celebration menu available for special occasions.
