Attractive 16th century thatched cottage located in an idyllic farmland location in North Devon, surrounded by beautiful countryside and within a thirty five minute drive of beautiful beaches.
General Info
This cottage is situated in a tranquil countryside location on the owner s farm in North Devon. The nearby village of Sheepwash has a pub with a pretty beer garden and a tempting menu, perfect for a sunny afternoon pint, or a warming lunch in the winter. The property is situated between both Dartmoor National Park (which is twelve miles to the south), and the Cornish and Devonshire coastlines (each twenty miles away), so there is plenty to see and do within easy driving distance, whether you fancy a relaxing or active break. Other attractions in the area include RHS Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the miles of cycling paths available on the Tarka Trail. This beautiful thatched cottage offers comfortable accommodation with some attractive original features. The spacious lounge, with its beamed ceiling and warming wood burner, is a delightful space in which to sit and relax with the TV and DVD, meanwhile the diner, which also has a seating space alongside the dining table, has an unusual antique feature Range oven set into the fireplace, which makes for an impressive focal point. The separate kitchen provides an additional dining space in the form of a breakfast table, and is equipped with an oven, hob, Stanley range, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher, whilst the fridge/freezer, washing machine, and tumble dryer are located in the nearby utility room. One of the bedrooms, a single room with sloping ceilings, is also located on the ground floor, as is a shower room with WC. The three further bedrooms are located on the first floor; two of these are twin rooms, whilst the other is a pretty double room. Guests should be aware that due to the age of the property, all of the bedrooms have sloping ceilings and some reduced head height. The bathroom, on the first floor, benefits from a bath, separate shower, and WC. Outside, the property enjoys an enclosed garden with a BBQ and garden furniture, which provides guests with a lovely place to sit and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings. Guests are also able to explore much of the surrounding land, including the attractive orchards and the river bank meadows which make a fantastic spot for a picnic. Guests are also able to make arrangements with the owner to make use of the one and a half mile stretch of onsite game fishing, and guests may like to get a taste of rural life by observing the day to day life on the farm, such as lambing and apple harvest. There is ample parking provided to the rear of the property.
