Known as one of the prettiest houses in Salgueiro da Lomba, Casa Laranjeira was built by local craftsmen on the site of one of the oldest dwellings in the village and is now the perfect holiday bolthole.
Blending the character of a traditional Portuguese house with plentiful style and contemporary amenities, Casa Laranjeira is a truly lovely holiday retreat for friends, family and lovers. The house itself has all the facilities you could need for a relaxing home-from-home experience, the location at the highest point in the village offers views that must be seen to be believed, and the surrounding area has walks, swimming spots, beaches, market towns and outdoor pursuits aplenty. This is a place to create lifelong memories.
The pretty village of Salgueiro da Lomba is a haven of peace and tranquillity, but it is also the ideal jumping off point for discovering the many sights and activities of Central Portugal. There are lots of beautiful walks which start directly from your doorstep, there are mountains and valleys all around you or you can swim in the spectacular gorge just a few kilometres away. If you want to venture a little further it is still only a short drive to the long sandy beaches of the Silver Coast and the historic university and Templar towns of Coimbra and Tomar. Or you could wander round some of the closer neighbouring towns – Avelar (5km) offers all the essentials, Ansião and Pombal have good supermarkets, and Figueiró dos Vinhos (15 minutes) has a great Saturday market.
Lisboa and Porto airports are 190km away and the nearest train station, Pombal, is 25km from the house. The owner can arrange transfers but it is advisable to hire a car so you can get around during your stay. Detailed driving directions can be provided.

The house, set over three floors, cleverly combines the old with the new and has three bedrooms - two doubles and one twin - as well as two bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable living area.
At the top of the house you will find a roof terrace with a BBQ and wonderful views, and there is also a private little suntrap courtyard. Guests have shared access to the eco-pool and surrounding grounds.
If you would like, the owners are very happy to shop and stock the kitchen with basics (at cost). If you stay more than a week then housekeeping and laundry is included in the price. Linens and towels are provided but please bring your own beach towels. There are three further properties on site so up to 30 people can be accommodated overall.
Conditions of Rental
No smoking or pets. Not suitable for children under the age of 2. Check in between 4pm and 10pm, check out by 11am. To access the house there is a short walk up a steep cobbled street.
