Set within a former brickyard on the banks of the River Stour in Suffolk, this quintessentially English cottage offers cosy interiors, a characterful garden and simply stunning views over the water. Come and experience waterside living at its very best Bottle of champagne and a box of handmade Suffolk chocolates with every booking!.
There is a rumour that bricks from this yard were sent to London on a barge and then onto America to be used in the construction of the White House! But even without this story, Brickyard Cottage has a wonderfully historic and authentic feel to it. The property itself has been lovingly furnished with warming wood burning stoves, a private sauna and a fantastic conservatory, the two gardens afford you unforgettable views of the river and the RSPB reserve, and nearby there is plenty to see and do (if you can tear yourself away from the water’s edge). What better setting in which to relax and unwind?
Come rain, shine or snow, this is a magical location - a short stroll will take you to a local pub, longer walks will take you to other charming eateries and the RSPB mudflats are right on your doorstep. The Shotley Peninsula and the beautiful Suffolk Heritage Coast stretch out around you, waiting to be explored, and towns like Mistley, Parkeston Quay, Harwich and Felixstowe are well worth a visit.
The track to the yard can be a bit bumpy, especially if it has been raining.

The cottage has two en-suite double bedrooms as well as two sitting rooms, both of which have a wood burning stove. The kitchen is open plan and there is a superb conservatory with a dining table where you can sit and enjoy the views. There is a sofa bed in here, and although the cottage is not specifically adapted for disabled people it is all on one floor and there is a ramp over the front door sill.
The property benefits from two gardens - one is a secluded sunken area with a BBQ and glass panels and the other is an open lawn right on the banks of the River Stour.
