General Info

In the heart of some of the most stunning countryside in Northern Ireland you will find Lackan Cottage Farm, home to this unique, off-grid, handcrafted cottage. The accommodation itself is comfortable and homely, with natural furnishings and the highest environmental credentials. The setting is spectacular, with mountains on one side, forests on the other and direct access to private woodland from your front door. And the surrounding area is lush and unspoilt, with beaches, hills, walking trails, outdoor pursuits and attractions galore. Romance, luxury and rural life await. 

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

There are lots of lovely walks close by, through Lackan Bog and Annahunshigo Lake, or you can go cycling and canoeing at the nearby Castwellan Forest Park. Fans of Game of Thrones will have plenty of filming locations to explore or you could hike to the top of Slieve Donard and down to the cafes and beaches of Newcastle. Local shops, pubs and restaurants are just five miles away and the rugged Mourne Mountains are waiting to be discovered.

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
The cottage originally dates back to the 1840s and has been sympathetically restored with local timbers and reclaimed materials. It has a super king size bed with a view of the birch wood and a wood burning stove in the living area and everything from the underfloor heating to the tap water is powered by solar and wind power. A welcome pack is provided, there are laundry facilities available and WiFi is available on request. 

Exterior Details
From the house you have direct access to private woodland and you may also like to explore the gardens, meet the horses and feed the chickens. 

Further Details
On site there is also an upcycled off grid horsebox or rental. 

Conditions of Rental
No children and no pets. A refundable damage deposit of £100 is required.
