On a semi private spit of land overlooking the ocean, separated from the rest of the world by a salt water creek, stands 'Elsewhere’. Four charming houses located on a beach the footprints of fishermen and turtles are still to be seen. Accessible only by a bamboo footbridge, there can be no more beautiful and secluded a location.
All 4 houses sit directly on the beach facing the sea. They are built in a traditional style with thick cool walls, shuttered windows, cool natural flooring, and lofty terracotta tiled sloping roofs. The furniture is an eclectic mix of traditional and rustic and they all have a delightful open sitting area to watch the sea by day and the stars by night. Absolutely idyllic! The largest of the houses are the Captain’s House and the Priest’s House, both of which have 3 non air-conditioned bedrooms and sleep 6. The other 2 houses – the Piggery and the Bakery – sleep between 2 and 4 in either one or two air-conditioned bedrooms.
The former Portuguese colony of Goa lies on the West Coast of India. The road follows the Chapora River downstream through fishing hamlets before turning north. From here it winds through fields full of rice, chillies and onions before climbing on to the plateau giving breathtaking views of the beach and ocean. A few kilometres further on you drop down and follow the shoreline until a Creek forces the road to turn inland. Here amidst that wonderful view lies
For your guidance, we are located in North Goa, about 30 minutes’ drive from Calangute, Baga or Panjim, 20 minutes’ drive from Mapuca, and about 45 minutes’ drive from Old Goa. A little over an hour's drive away from Goa's Dabolim Airport BUT our exact location is a bit of a secret, purely to protect the privacy of our resident guests. It's best to make a prior booking after which we will either give you directions or arrange transport for you. You can fly directly into Goa by Chartered flights which come from the UK, Germany, Finland, and a few other countries. There are also a few scheduled flights which fly in directly to Goa from the Middle East. Alternatively, you could fly in to Bombay (Mumbai) or Delhi on a scheduled flight (British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, Air France, Alitalia etc) and then take a domestic flight to Goa.

The Captain’s House has 3 non air-conditioned bedrooms, all of which open out onto a gorgeous balcony. All the bedrooms have large double beds and the master is ensuite. The furnishings are utterly charming and the sit-out area has breathtakingly good views of the sea. The Priest’s House also has 3 non air-conditioned bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and balcony. Two of these bathrooms have ceilings which are open to the sky, which makes showering a completely unique and magical experience! There is no living area inside but with the space outside, who needs it? The Piggery, now free of livestock, has 2 air-conditioned bedrooms with balconies and bathrooms and the whole place is wonderfully spacious and airy. Likewise the Bakery has 2 air-conditioned bedrooms, but here each is self-contained and available to rent one by one. The Captain's House has wi-fi. The other wi-fi area is in the common dining shack area.
The location of the beach houses is such, that literally right on your doorstep you have the sound of the waves on the shore, the smell of salty air and the feel of the sand under your feet. The peace and natural beauty is overwhelming. And all of the houses have their own open sitting area from where you can enjoy the view. There are also outdoor showers near each house for when you return from the beach, and a lovely little dining shack where meals are served and you pay for what you order at the end of your stay. There is a yoga centre with instructors just a little way from the property.
