One-Off Feature

Built in 1821 and more recently featured in numerous pieces of high profile media, West Usk Lighthouse is truly one of a kind. And its location, hidden at the end of a very long stony track and overlooking the water, is hard to beat. This is a B&B with a difference.

General Info

With its unique design – shorter than most lighthouses and yet larger in circumference – West Usk Lighthouse and is a comfy, cosy and quirky getaway at the junction of the Severn and the Usk Estuaries. The rooms all have breathtaking views over the Bristol Channel, the atmosphere is soothing, and the area is full of attractions and activities. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend break, a family holiday by the sea or a wedding, West Usk is a genuinely memorable destination.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The lighthouse is situated near the City of Newport in Gwent and there’s lots to see in the local area - palatial Tredegar House, romantic Castell Coch, the Roman city of Caerleon, and the castles of Caldicot, Chepstow, Raglan, Cardiff and Caerphilly. The scenic Usk Valley, Brecon Beacons and Mumbles are an easy drive away, or the island of Flat Holm is a 50 minute crossing from Cardiff Bay. And don’t forget Dewstow Gardens and Grottoes, Tintern Abbey, Dyffryn Gardens and Arboretum, and St. Fagans National History Museum, to name but a few. If you want to get active, then why not try horse riding, para gliding, paintballing, canoeing, bird watching, fishing, golfing, biking or walking. And at the end of a long day there are lots of restaurants and pubs to enjoy.
