The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

If you can bear to leave the luxury of your cottage, you have some wonderful places on your doorstep, with Hay on Wye, the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons to name but a few. Outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking and horse riding are ten a penny and within easy reach you can also find yourself in ancient castles and wonderful gardens. If you don’t want to be left to your own devices, we can provide you with chefs, butler services, local produce, grocery shopping, wine and drinks, a washing up service, a chauffeur or taxi service, a child minder, stabling and photographers. We can also organise a whole host of local activities, from guided walks and foraging to fishing, canoeing and clay pigeon shooting.

Getting There & Local Amenities

Getting There:
The approach is suitably exciting: a narrow track winds its way into the little cwm from the Mountain Road through fields of ponies and sheep. Low slung sports cars are not recommended and during bad weather conditions in the winter we can help you there in our 4×4. Please see the website for detailed driving directions. Be warned that using a Satnav is not reliable and the postcode will take you to the wrong location!

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
Bedroom 1 on the top floor has a king sized bed and a large en-suite bathroom, Bedroom 2 is a double with a shared bath/shower room, and Bedroom 3 is a twin room with an extra single bed in it. The cottage also has a sitting room, a dining room, a drawing room and a kitchen with an Aga.  There is a Jacques pool table and indoor table tennis table.  Blaencwm’s bespoke kitchen offers an ideal space for preparing culinary masterpieces.  There is a door leading into the sitting room/ dining room with further dining seating for 8. The kitchen door opens out to the sheltered South East facing terrace overlooking the garden, a perfect spot for breakfast and lunches.

Exterior Details
The cottage has a sheep proof garden of about an acre, with three terraces and outdoor furniture for your use. The lawns are cut regularly and we manage the beds as regularly as required. The cottage is detached from any other buildings and has no immediate neighbours. There is a small stream and a very beautiful waterfall directly beside the property - ideal for exploring.  You can access the larger South West facing terrace from the dining room.  This is a perfect spot for lazy summer evenings and barbecues. Both areas have outdoor tables and chairs.

Further Details
Be aware that there is very little mobile phone coverage here but Wi-Fi is available on some phones. During your stay you can enjoy fresh eggs from our hens, seasonal produce from the estate and bread from our local partisan bakery.  We can organize drop off meals for you to heat up and serve or serviced lunches and dinners with as many courses as you desire. We can provide you with BBQ’s, packed lunches or picnic baskets to be delivered to a spot of your choice on the hill by a member of staff.

Conditions of Rental
For a small additional cost well behaved dogs are welcome in the uncarpeted areas and not on the furniture. Weeks run from Friday to Friday and there is a minimum of a 2 night stay on weekends.
