Set on the scenic Kilpatrick Hills with stunning views over the River Clyde and Erskine Bridge, this contemporary cottage is a unique mix of Victorian-era architecture and modern interiors. Come and enjoy a bit of luxury in a beautiful location.
The Glenlivet is one of five self-catering cottages at Gavinburn, each of which has its own individual character and style. The cottages were originally built in the 1800s to house estate visitors, but they now provide a unique location from which to explore the vibrant city of Glasgow, the stunning beauty of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and the capital city of Edinburgh, less than an hours drive away. Inside the cottage is furnished to a very high standard and provides guests with everything they could want for a relaxing break, from wood burning stoves to fluffy pillows. And on your doorstep is a natural paradise, exhilarating for hill walkers and mountain bikers and just as wonderful for those who just want to enjoy unspoilt scenery and fresh Scottish air.
This part of the world is a hub of outdoor pursuits, both on dry land and in the water. The Kilpatrick Hills provide excellent hill walking opportunities, from leisurely woodland walks to brisk hill climbs, and you can also go rock climbing, mountain biking, fishing, horse riding and sailing. There are some top quality golf courses within 10 minutes of the cottage, and there are ample opportunities for bird and wildlife spotting. You could even try your hand at paintballing or falconry. There are lots of sites of historic interest to discover, from the Antonine Wall world heritage site to the Titan Crane Visitor Centre in Clydebank, and you should also make time for Dumbarton Castle, the nearby whisky distilleries and the rugged islands off the west coast. And at the end of a long day there are plenty of local eateries, from the friendly Italian restaurant in the village to the top class restaurants of Glasgow.
We are well sign posted when you reach the top of Station Road and pass under the A82 in the village of Old Kilpatrick, which lies below the Erskine Bridge. Then its a case of following the Gavinburn signs into the Kilpatrick Hills. We can also arrange to collect you from Glasgow Airport or Kilpatrick train station if you are leaving the car at home. Kilpatrick train station is located at the bottom of the hill (about a miles walk) and trains run every half hour into Glasgow and onto Edinburgh. It takes about 20 minutes to get to Glasgow.

The Glenlivet is characterised by a large modern open plan living, dining and kitchen area with stunning cathedral ceilings and French doors which open out onto a sun terrace. There are two generous sized bedrooms which can be made into doubles or twins and you will also find under floor heating, a remote control flame stove, a 42 inch Smart TV, a Blu-Ray Player and Blue Tooth Sound System, a luxurious bathroom and a fully-equipped kitchen.
The cottage has its own patio, garden and BBQ area, complete with patio furniture for alfresco dining. From here you can enjoy the amazing views and local wildlife at your leisure. Separate storage and wash facilities are available at the cottages for outdoor clothing, boots, equipment, bikes and muddy children!
You will be greeted on arrival by a selection of essential Scottish foods (milk, butter, bread, eggs, cereals, jam, marmalade, oatcakes, shortbread, cakes, tea and coffee) as well as a complimentary mini bottle of Malt Whisky. Also included are gas, electricity and logs, linen and towels and laundry facilities.
Conditions of Rental
You are free to book the cottages for either 3 night weekend breaks, 4 night midweek breaks or whole-week stays. At peak times we may need to charge full week rates for shorter breaks. You can choose to arrive at any time on a Friday or a Monday. We always aim to have the cottages ready by 3pm at the latest and we request that the cottages are vacated on the departure day by 10am. A £100 deposit is required to secure all bookings. The remainder of the balance is paid six weeks before your arrival. In the event of cancellation, we can only offer refunds if we are able to re-let your cottage.
