Grannda Mhor is a newly refurbished luxury four-bedroom house in Arduaine, on the west coast of Scotland, with absolutely stunning views across Asknish Bay. Set back on the hillside with sea views south and west, an incredibly social space- ideal for multigenerational families or couples looking for a retreat. An ideal base for a self-catering holiday in Argyll.

General Info

Set in an area of great natural scenic beauty, between Oban and Lochgilphead, Grannda Mhor has views south and west over Asknish Bay to Shuna, Luin, Scarba and The Paps of Jura.  Just a few hundred yards north of the house are the Arduaine Gardens and the Loch Melfort Hotel with its excellent bistro and restaurant.  The Bay at Arduaine has its own jetty where you can launch your rib or kayaks.  The village has a local shop and pub, The Lord of the Isles.  2.5 miles south is Craobh Haven which is a popular holiday and sailing village.  It has a harbourmaster, marina office and store, and a number of excellent wildlife cruises run from here, some of which take in the famous Gulf of Corryvreckan with the largest whirlpool in the world.  The picturesque and bustling harbour town of Oban is 25 minutes drive north along the coast road.  

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

There’s masses to do in the surrounding area, for all interests and ages.  Oban itself is a centre point for activities and there are lots of things to do in and around it.  Visit the Sea Life Centre, go walking on nearby Kerrera island, head out to sea on a SeaFari to see dolphins and seals.  You can explore the cycle trails, including the Oban to Fort William coastal cycle path.  You can go sea kayaking, visit the Oban Seal Sanctuary, or take a trip to the Atlantis Leisure centre with its water slides.  There is a great distillery in Oban, over 30 spectacular gardens, riding schools, golf courses, sailing, fishing - there’s no shortage of things to do, whatever the weather!

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
The house can sleep up to eight people in four bedrooms and three bathrooms.  Two of the bedrooms are king sized and en suite.  The master bedroom and double bedroom have views to the south west.  The other double and the twin share a bathroom and are both fitted with sliding patio doors which lead onto the garden.  There is a bright sitting room with a full aspect 5.5m panoramic window with incredible views to the south west, and a log burner so you can enjoy the views from the warmth of the indoors in winter time.  There is a well equipped, stylish and modern kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, and all the utensils and equipment you’re likely to need!  There is a mezzanine level dining area with an oak dining table and a glass balustrade so you can see the sea while you eat!  Integrated bluetooth speakers and free wifi throughout.

Exterior Details
Outside there is a well appointed patio with garden furniture and BBQ, where you can enjoy the scottish sunshine and the marvellous views.  The gardens and immediate surroundings are host to a wide range of fauna including red squirrel, pine marten and otters playing in the bay.  It’s also a wonderful place to birdwatch - if you’re really lucky you might have a sighting of Golden and Sea Eagles over the Bay.

Further Details
Oban, the unofficial capital of the West Highlands, is 25 minutes to the north.  It’s a pretty little harbour town with many attractions, shops and restaurants.  The Inner Hebrides is made up of Kerrera, Lismore, Mull and the granite mountains of the Morvern Peninsula, with Coll, Colonsay, Tiree and Iona beyond them.  Visit Lunga from mid April to early August for the puffins, and visit Staffa for the incredible basalt rock formations.  You can book ferries / tours to the islands with Caledonian Macbrayne.

25% deposit required on booking.  Check in from 4pm and check out by 9.30am.  Electricity included.  Pets by arrangement.  No smoking please.  Linen and towels provided.
