In the heart of rural Lincolnshire you will find two beautifully restored, eco-friendly, award-winning 18th century stables. Cosy, quiet and luxurious, these little hideaways (one of which is happy to accommodate your dog too) offer the ultimate in peace, relaxation and romance.
The Hayloft and Bothy have been thoughtfully and tastefully furnished and are perfect for those seeking a tranquil countryside retreat. Both are warm and welcoming, with wood-burning stoves, exposed beams and lime-washed walls. Wooden floors or natural brick tiles are covered in braided wool rugs and recycled cotton mats, fabrics are soft and natural, and colours are warm and earthy. The luxury organic wool mattresses are covered in quality bedding and cotton quilts, and the delicious welcome hampers and complimentary toiletries all create a feeling of total indulgence. Whether you come to explore the stunning Lincolnshire landscape, to take part in one of our creative courses or simply to cuddle up in front of the fire with a loved one, Manor House Stables are a haven of peace and serenity. When you arrive you will be greeted by a welcome hamper containing freshly baked bread, chocolates, biscuits, plum bread, cereal, locally home-made jam and honey and a bottle of wine, plus a basket of freshly collected vegetables from our garden or from the local farm shop. If you would like to bring your dog, then we allow dogs in the Bothy - so they can enjoy this countryside retreat too!
The barns are situated close to the wolds, coast and fens in an area renowned for good walks, cycling, bird watching, golf, angling and enjoying the great outdoors. The Edwardian town of Woodhall Spa with its shops, restaurants, famous golf course and cinema, and the historic city of Lincoln with its cathedral and castle are both just a short drive from the barns. The beaches of the Lincolnshire coast are also within easy reach. The county played an important part in the Second World War and it is rich in aviation heritage, so places like Waddington Airfield and the Dambusters Memorial are must-sees. There are many memorials and museums to visit, and antique hunting, county shows and air shows are all ideas for an interesting day trip. Visit medieval Tattershall Castle and the working watermill at Cogglesford, take the children to the Snipe Dales Country Park, and take a boat trip along the River Witham.
The nearest train station is at Metheringham (4 miles) which has links with Sleaford, Peterborough, Lincoln and Newark. Newark (with train connections to London and the rest of Britain) is about 45 minutes and Lincoln only a 20 minute drive away by car. Buses leave the village regularly for Lincoln, Sleaford and Woodhall Spa. The village of Martin is easily accessible from several major routes. These include the A15, which connects with major routes both in the north and south of the county, the A46, which runs from Lincoln to Newark, the A52 from Grantham leading to Nottingham and the Midlands, and the A17 running to Boston and onwards to Norfolk. Collection from a local train or bus station can be arranged with us in advance. Comprehensive driving directions can be found on the website.

The Hayloft sleeps 2 in a cast iron bed in the main bedroom, and there is also a box bed in the living area for a further 2 guests if required. The luxury bathroom has a deep copper bateau spa bath, a small sauna and a shower, the living room has a cosy wood burning stove, and the kitchen area is well equipped with a Belfast sink, a Rangemaster cooker, an unusual wooden refrigerator and a superb range of kitchen essentials. The Bothy also has one bedroom with a cast iron sleigh bed and there is an additional box bed or snug for 1 under the stairs. The beamed living area has a log burning stove and under floor heating, as well as a leather sofa and a pine dining table, the small but lovely kitchen contains an Everhot range cooker, and the beautifully tiled wet room has an unusual wooden soaking tub. Free WiFi is available in the Hayloft. It is not fully available in the Bothy but we hope to improve this facility soon.
Both barns have a small private garden fenced off with hazel hurdles. A picnic table, barbeque set, bird-feeding table and basket swing make these gardens a lovely place in which to relax.
