Nestled in an idyllic village in the midst of the Garden of England is this 15th century thatched timber-framed farmhouse and its outlying barns. Surrounded by sensational countryside and beautifully converted while retaining all of its original charm, this is the perfect place to enjoy a holiday in comfort and character.
Manor Farmhouse, which comprises the traditional farmhouse itself and two further barns, is just made for gatherings with family groups, with lots of space, luxurious furnishings, landscaped gardens, a heated swimming pool and gorgeous Kentish scenery. The house and grounds have a charming old style about them which cannot be detracted from, but the whole property has been stunningly and sumptuously renovated and leaves nothing to be desired. From a cinema room and billiard table to the Jacuzzi bath and wrap-around decks, there is nothing the owners have not thought of. Around the house, the gardens stretch out towards the breathtaking countryside, with views over neighbouring orchards, the cricket pitch and the rolling fields beyond. If you’re looking to relax with loved ones in a tranquil setting, look no further.
Manor Farmhouse is situated in the centre of the pretty village of Milstead in Kent, tucked between the Church of St Mary and the Holy Cross, the medieval Manor House and the local cricket ground. The town of Sittingbourne is 3 miles away, while the medieval market town of Faversham is within a 20 minute drive. This house is an ideal base for exploring the beauty of Kent. On the one hand you have 900 year old Leeds Castle and the Victorian mansion and gardens at Doddingham, and on the other you have Herne Bay and the lovely beaches of Whitstable. Watch bird life at Harty Ferry, learn a thing or two at Dickens World, spend an afternoon at the Sittingbourne greyhound stadium, go karting, and wander round the picturesque cathedral city of Canterbury. And don’t forget the village pubs – try The Sun Inn at Bredgar, The Red Lion at Milstead (half a mile from the house) and The Dirty Habit, an 11th century pub in Hollingbourne.
From Sittingbourne Station: On leaving the train station turn left onto the A2 and continue until you reach Crown Quay lane, then turn right onto Bell Road. Continue on this road until you reach Memorial Hospital, then turn left, passing through Highsted valley, and after 2.7 miles you will enter Milstead. Continue to the centre of the village then take a left before the Manor House onto Manor Road - Manor Farmhouse is on the left after 70 metres.

The Farmhouse has 3 double bedrooms and 1 single, Stable Cottage has 3 double rooms and The Barn has 2 double bedrooms and 1 single. The Farmhouse has solid oak flooring, exposed beams, and wood burning stoves in the drawing room. The dining room, with its former bread oven, can seat 18 (great for big dinners!), there is a kitchen/breakfast room with more informal seating, and all but one of the bedrooms are en-suite. Stable Cottage has a vaulted reception area, an open plan kitchen/dining room and French doors in all the bedrooms which open out onto a wrap-around deck. The Barn houses not just bedrooms but also a library, a billiards room, a sauna and a study with a door leading to the deck. It also has an impressive cinema room with seating for 18. The kitchens are all fitted out with the necessary mod cons, each property has a TV with either Sky or Freeview, and broadband is available throughout at no extra cost.
Outside you will find the lovely swimming pool (set in a sunken walled garden and heated between 1st May and 30th September), a main deck with lots of furniture and seating for 18 people, and a BBQ so you can cook up a storm on those long summer evenings. Stable Cottage also benefits from a wonderful wrap-around deck from where you can enjoy the scenery as you sip your morning cup of coffee. All around the property are 2 acres of landscaped gardens which border onto orchards full of apple, cherry and pear trees. And on your doorstep Milstead offers all the delights of a delightful British rural village.
No smoking is permitted in any of the properties and you can bring one small well-behaved dog. There is ample parking. The properties cannot be booked separately and there is a minimum stay of 3 nights. We do not accept stag or hen parties – this is specifically not a house party venue. The house is very conveniently located for access to and from Europe, with the Eurostar and Channel Tunnel just 25 minutes away. London is also just an hour away on the train.
