Kilda House is a luxurious and beautiful Edwardian house sleeping up to six / seven people. The house boast excellent views over sea loch Obbe, the romantic village of Leverburgh and the remote South Harris hills. It is at a 5 min drive from Northton’s many white sandy beaches, Scarista vast beach and a great base for walking, fishing, cycling, kayaking, sailing, seal watching and exploring the Outer Hebrides. The accommodation is spacious yet cosy, the sea views from the garden stretch over the Sound of Harris, and the location is second to none. Leverburgh is a very small fishing village with a pier for trips to St Kilda and the Shiants and a slipway for the Calmac ferry to the Uists. It also has a post office, a shop, an Outdoor Centre and a pub/restaurant. Harris is an outdoor pursuit paradise, with everything from sea kayaking and sailing to mountain biking and land yachting on offer. The owner of the house runs an outdoor pursuits centre. You could play a round of golf or take a boat trip to the neighbouring islands, or you could try your hand at fishing - there are lots of salmon, brown trout and sea trout in the sea loch in front of the house and in the rivers in the hills beyond. And keep your eye out for the resident wildlife, from otters, seals, whales and porpoises to puffins, gannets and even golden eagles.
If you’re coming by car, the two main driving routes to Scotland from the south are via the east of England on the A1, or via the west using the M6, A74(M) and M74. From Edinburgh or Glasgow there are a few options. If you`re coming by ferry, the ferry arrives into Harris from Uig into Tarbert, and Berneray to Leverburgh. The ferry from Ullapool-Stornoway, followed by a 50 minute drive, will take you to Northton. By air, Scotland is well served by the budget airlines operating from airports around London and from other regional hubs, as well as by British Airways and BMI. You can fly from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen and Benbecula directly to Stornoway Airport. For more detailed travel information please see the website.

Inside the house, the spacious hall leads to a lovely open-plan dining and living room with a wood burning stove and a modern, well-equipped kitchen. There are two marble tiled bathrooms with under floor heating, one with a Jacuzzi, and three bedrooms, one king, one double and one with 3 single beds. From the windows in the Master bedroom you can see the ferry to the Uists coming in. The house is equipped with an LCD TV, an iPod docking system, a DVD player and WiFi, as well as a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher.
The house boasts a large garden with a picnic table from where you can enjoy far-reaching views over the Sound of Harris and the myriad of islands between Harris and North Uist. And just 5 minutes away are the stunning beaches at Northton and Scarista.
If you want to eat out, The Anchorage pub and restaurant is a short walk away, but further afield you can also enjoy seafood at the Rodel Hotel, coffee and cakes at the Temple Café in Northton, and other delicious offerings at the Tarbert Hotel, the Harris Inn and Hotel Hebrides, not to mention the award-winning Scarista House. And if you don’t feel like going anywhere, Croft 36 in Northton will deliver ready-made meals made with fresh local seafood/produce.
