Glasgow & The Clyde Valley
Glasgow and its surrounding areas have much to offer so if you’re looking for a cottage in Scotland then it’s definitely a location to seriously consider. The city itself is a wonderfully stylish destination – bursting with museums, art galleries, diverse shops and exceptional architecture by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Don’t miss the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, the unique and mind-bending Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum or one of the shows at the Theatre Royal. A holiday rental in Glasgow is definitely a good bet for culture vultures and those looking for a chic city break, but a cottage in the Clyde Valley would be just as memorable, albeit perhaps for different reasons.
As you leave the environs of Glasgow itself you move into beautiful countryside, full of cycle routes, walking trails, wildlife and World Heritage Sites. If you’re renting a cottage in the Clyde Valley, the 42 mile long Clyde Valley Tourist Route is an excellent way to explore some of the scenery and attractions, or you could wander along the Forth & Clyde Canal. The Clyde Valley Woodlands National Nature Reserve is full of waterfalls and birdlife and country parks like Finlaystone Country Estate and Dams to Darnley offer stunning gardens and places for escapism. And don’t forget the beaches - Prestwick Beach, Troon Beach and Ayr Beach to name but a few. From trendy arts and entertainments to lush landscapes and magnificent castles, you can’t go wrong with a cottage near Glasgow.
