One-Off Feature

A grand townhouse in the heart of the old town of Velez-Malaga which can sleep up to 14 people.  It has a private courtyard pool, is a short walk from shops, bakeries, bars and restaurants, and is just 5km from the Mediterranean coast.  A wonderful base for exploring Andalucia at any time of year.

General Info

Velez-Malaga is set between two mountain ranges and amongst the well-known white villages, and gets almost 3000 hours of sunshine every year.  With the Mediterranean on your doorstep, and vast inland rural expanses to explore by bike, on foot or by car, it’s a wonderful place to escape to.  Andalucia is a fabulous year-round destination, as winter temperatures are very mild, and there’s still lots of sunshine.  These low season months can still reach up to 25 degrees in the daytime so if you’re after the beauty without the crowds (as well as quieter times at the big sites such as the Alhambra), then autumn and winter months are the best time!

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The house is just outside the Moorish walls which once protected the original village of Velez-Malaga.  You’re just a short walk from the History Museum and from the Contemporary Art Museum.  Less than a 10 minute walk gets you to the old food market in Plaza San Francisco which is well known for its local foods, arts, crafts and concerts.  The surrounding area simply oozes history - Phoenicians and Romans have both made their mark here, and one of the world’s oldest pieces of pictoral art is just 20km away in the caves of Nerja.  Velez-Malaga is just 5km from the Mediterranean in the eastern part of the Costa del Sol.  Torre del Mar is the closest coastal town, with its seaside promenade, beaches and beach bars, and there are masses of other towns and villages dotted along the coastline.  For trips further afield, Malaga city is 20 mins, Granada (with the Alhambra) is 1 hr 10 mins, and you can even reach the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada is 1 hr 30 mins.

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
The house is large - nearly 500 square metres set over three floors, sleeping up to 14 people.  It’s an urban oasis - set in the heart of the town but peaceful and secluded, filled with books, art and inspiration.   The large and open plan kitchen / diner has doors to the patios and pool.  There’s an open fireplace and woodburning stove for the cooler months.  The kitchen is well equipped with Rangemaster cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher, and all the other equipment you need.  Also on the ground floor is a separate living room / library, and a downstairs loo with shower.  There are five bedrooms and three bathrooms on the first floor.  Then the second floor is home to a large loft room (almost 50 square metres), which can be used as a dormitory for the younger members of the party, or as a space for workshops or group get togethers.  Fibre optic internet and Cable TV.   The bedrooms have electric heaters and there are warm duvets and blankets for the cooler months.  Cot and high chair on site.

Exterior Details
Outside there are three connecting patios, all bursting with plant life and with tables and chairs for eating, reading and chatting.  There’s also a private pool on one of the patios for your use.  There is a private garage which can accommodate one car.

Conditions of Rental
Security deposit payable on booking.  Minimum stay 2 nights.  One single additional cleaning cost payable (€30 - €100 depending on group size).  Bedlinen and towels (including beach towels) included.  The owners live on the coast so are not far away if you have any queries or need any help.  Please note that the house is in a Spanish neighbourhood and there are other houses nearby, so we ask you to be sensitive to your neighbours.  No parties!
