One-Off Feature

Perched on a mountainside with magnificent views over rolling hills and verdant valleys, Villa degli Armeni is the perfect place to relax, unwind and explore the delightful region of Lazio.

General Info

Surrounded by forest and tucked 500 metres up a hill, Villa degli Armeni is wonderfully peaceful and secluded, and yet it is just an hour from the beautiful city of Rome – you can even see the dome of St Peter’s in the far distance. The villa itself has an interesting history and retains lots of original mid-century features, from the stone fireplace and loft gabled ceilings to the abundant arches and ironwork. But it has been sensitively modernised with contemporary furnishings and lots of windows and terraces, and the setting really is nothing short of spectacular. Lazio is an undiscovered gem and this is a superb base from which to enjoy it.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The villa is a couple of kilometres outside the picturesque village of Poggio Catino, on the side of a forest-covered mountain, in front of the Apennine Mountains and overlooking the River Tiber Valley. This region, known as the Sabina, is relatively undiscovered by tourism but it is full of charming medieval villages, olive groves and crumbling castles. There’s wonderful local food to be enjoyed, you’ll find festivals aplenty during the summer months and activities like hiking, photography and river boating are understandably popular. Lazio is full of Roman ruins, frescoes, gardens and lakes to visit, and of course Rome itself, with its wealth of monuments, museums and restaurants, is just an hour away.

Getting There:
One of Italy’s main motorways is just a 25 minute drive from the villa and Rome is under an hour away by train or car. Tuscany is about an hour north of the villa and Naples and Pompeii are 2.5 hours to the south.
