One-Off Feature

A charming two bedroom cottage on a private estate in the foothills of St Barthelemy in Provence.  In a rural setting with a private garden, this is a wonderful, peaceful holiday rental in France.

General Info

The cottage sits on 4 acres of private land and is well situated between the three medieval villages of Salernes, Villecroze and Tourtour.  The cottage has been beautifully restored from an old ruin by a local architect who restored monasteries - the small finishes and beautiful craftsmanship show what a labour of love it was for him.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

La Pichouline is ideally located in the mountains of Provence in close proximity to many medieval villages.  Provence is famous for its vineyards - and there’s lots of opportunity for you to sample local food and drink in the vicinity.  There’s even a vineyard just a 5 minute walk from the cottage.  There are local pottery workshops, yoga classes and horse riding opportunities in the surrounding villages, and even French classes if you feel so inclined!  There is a collection of restaurants, markets, wineries and bars all within walking distance.

The charming medieval village of Salernes is only 2kms from the house and is a hive of activity with Sunday markets and a good range of bars and boutiques, including many pottery shops.  Just outside Salernes is a natural swimming pool which is a popular bathing spot dating back to Roman times.  Another medieval village, Villecroze, is an easy 2km walk from La Pichouline, with its pretty village square and variety of shops and restaurants.  Visit the village caves, ‘Les Grottes’, tucked into the mountainside.  The largest canyon in Europe, the Gorges du Verdon, is only 40 minutes drive away and is most definitely worth a visit for its wilderness feel, incredible views and a host of outdoor pursuits on offer.
