You cannot have a holiday in the West Midlands without a visit to Birmingham, a vibrant and eclectic city that will ‘wow’ you with its shopping malls, theatres, exhibition centres, multi-cultural restaurants and nightlife. Make sure you fit in a visit to the Jewellery Quarter and an evening in the Hippodrome, and on the outskirts of the city you can learn about the history of chocolate at Cadbury World.
Those who want to escape the whirlwind should head for the woodlands and wetlands of the surrounding countryside - famously the inspiration for JRR Tolkien’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy. Alternatively you could discover the home of the industrial revolution at the Black Country Living Museum, wander along the Mortimer Trail, or visit historic Coventry with its superb cathedral and numerous WWII sites. A holiday in the West Midlands provides a little bit of everything.
