The guide book, written by the owner of Dar Hajra, describes 40 different hiking routes close to the house. Dar Hajra is a superb base for a memorable week of walking in the Grazalema Natural Park.
One of Andalucia’'s most spectacular rental properties, sculpted around a rocky crag in a forest of the Grazalema park. The views are inspirational, the infinity pool amazing, and the house has been decorated with great style. You’ll find no more romantic a hideaway: this is a place to let your spirit soar.
Dar Hajra is hidden away in a pine forest just above the undiscovered and peaceful village of Montecorto, a few kilmetres west of Ronda. From the house's many terraces you get a stunning view of the peaks of the Grazalema and Ronda National Parks. A gloriously romantic hideaway with award winning contemporary interior design and spectacular views all around.
If you enjoy getting out and about there's masses to see within easy driving distance of the house. And there are excellent bus and rail connections to Sevilla, Córdoba and Granada. There are also regular buses to and from Ronda. Montecorto is the local village and has two restaurants as well as bars, shops, and super friendly locals! The village itself has several waymarked walks and there is a lovely swimming lake nearby. Ronda itself is about a 15 minute drive and is famous for its dramatic cliffside location. It's a busy town bursting with excellent restaurants and tapas bars and a beautiful old town. For those who like the great outdoors, the Grazalema national park begins right on your doorstep. Gorges, high peaks and Moorish villages abound. There are so many other places to visit in the surrounding area, including Roman settlements, famous cave paintings, caverns, vineyard visits, sherry tours, beaches, lake swimming, or day trips to Seville and Granada.
Jerez is the nearest airport, a 1 hour drive away. Sevilla (90 mins), Málaga (90 mins) and Gibraltar (120 mins) are all easily accessible from El Tejar. To drive to Montecorto from Bilbao and Santander takes a full day ie approx 10 hours driving time.

Dar Hajra is a house infused by light and a glorious sense of space. It could be a great choice if you've got something to celebrate and it's easy to see why it's so popular honeymooning couples.
On the ground floor an open plan sitting room/diner/kitchen and study form one, interconnected space with huge, drop-arch windows opening out to the stunning mountain views. This is the highest house in the village and has a real feel of eagle's nest. The rocky mountainside has been incorporated into the fabric of the building whilst a central, pyramidal lantern opens the house out to the sky above. It is simply spectacular. The house has high speed, fiber optic wifi, smart TV with Netflix and an eclectic collection of hundreds of CDs, DVDs and books. The huge kitchen shares the same stunning mountain views and has a long run of marble-topped work surface for the prepping of your meals. There's all the kitchen gadgetry that you need and a big, stainless steel fridge. Down a floor the master bedroom has a king size double bed and walk-in wardrobe. Its bathroom is a flight of fantasy with a large tub sculpted between the rocks and a huge shower rose. Run a bath, pour in the essential oils then light a candle: there’s plenty of room for two. At the very top of the house, reached by a second staircase that winds between the rocks, is a smaller twin bedroom with access to a large roof terrace.
At one end of this villa in Andalucia is the infinity edge plunge pool whose waters seem to merge with the sky. Just beyond the pool a path winds up to terrace shaded by an ancient carob tree where you can slump into a hammock at siesta time. Each window of the house brings in a different part of the stunning view southwards, including those of the study.
The mountainside has been wrapped into the fabric of the building and the rock strata add a stunning decorative element - Dar Hajra means 'House of the Rocks' in Arabic.
