Hill & Shore Cottage sit on the shores of Loch Eriboll with their own wind turbine and solar panels (very carbon negative!). With their huge windows, underfloor heating, wood stove, oversized feather-topped beds, outside solar tub and high-tech appliances, the design is such that they merge seamlessly into the rocky, watery landscape. Each cottage has just one bedroom so these little hideaways are just made for two!
Durness lies in the county of Sutherland on the North West tip of Great Britain. The wild, remote and beautiful expanse of Cape Wrath enjoys one of the most dramatic landscapes in Europe so it is a wonderful setting for a stay in an eco house. An abundance of wildlife and vast open space create an overwhelming experience. The village of Durness is surrounded by some of the best walking locations in the world and an endlessly fascinating environment, made for exploring. A combination of spectacular natural features, not least the stunning coastline of towering cliffs, golden beaches backed by rugged mountains and expansive moorland have ensured our region boasts a well deserved reputation as a walkers' paradise. On any given day, you may find yourself strolling along sandy beaches, spotting whales and puffins from our epic cliffs or even paying a visit to the ghost of the bearded sailor at Sandwood Bay.
Croft 103 is nestled on the shores of Loch Eriboll, 6 miles east of Durness. Durness is remote but easy to find. Take the A9 north to the Tore roundabout, follow the A9 to the junction with the B9176 and head towards Bonar Bridge. Take the A896 through Lairg. Two miles north of Lairg take the A838 and enjoy the stunning scenery en route to Laxford Bridge. From there head north to Durness. There is an alternative route up the west coast again through stunning scenery although it is approximately half an hour longer. From the Tore roundabout follow the A835 through Ullapool until you reach Ledmore Junction. Take the A837 to Laxford Bridge and then continue on the single track to Durness. Whichever route you take a warm welcome awaits you.

Constructed from honey-coloured stone and benefiting from a south-facing aspect, these properties strike the ideal balance between spaciousness and intimacy. A substantial 7ft feather-topped bed made of lacquered steel and leather is the centre piece of each bedroom. The unique design is complimented throughout by a range of specially commissioned fixtures and fittings. Adjacent to the bedroom, the bathroom area has a walk-in double shower lined with polished Caithness stone. Each cottage has two baths both designed to accommodate two people one of which is outdoors on the secluded patio area overlooking the sea. The lounge and dining areas include beautifully upholstered furniture and floor coverings in world-famous Anta tweed and specially commissioned dining tables. Effortlessly combining traditional and contemporary, the cottages offer a wood-burning stove, a state-of-the-art home entertainment system and Wi-Fi, and the kitchens provide everything you could need.
Experience the elemental power of an ancient landscape and enjoy uninterrupted views of sea loch and mountain. Outside, the patio has been protected and hand finished in Caithness stone, an ideal place to relax and unwind on handmade furniture. Enjoy the oversized outside solar tub - the water is piping hot and completely heated from solar power - no nasty chemicals, just fresh solar-heated water each time, allowing you to enjoy bathing outdoors responsibly. It is truly fantastic to sit in this deep, hot bath, on the loch, secluded under the stars with a glass of bubbly. This is a great place to relax and watch the stars or maybe, if you're lucky, even the northern lights. It doesn't get much better than this.
Croft 103 incorporates two 5 star self-catering cottages both with stunning open views over Loch Eriboll and the mountains. They have been created with style and vision and both effortlessly combine the traditional and the contemporary. Nothing at Croft 103 is off the shelf - from the door handles to the 7ft bed practically everything is handcrafted! Every aspect has been carefully planned and created using honest, natural fabrics and materials. The kitchens are fully equipped for all your culinary requirements and there are separate laundry rooms with washing machines, tumble driers and storage facilities. Croft 103 is unique - it is carbon negative which means it produces more energy than it uses, through wind and solar generation. Here you can indulge in sensuous luxury at the very heart of wilderness. Be prepared, because you will never want to leave! This is the perfect place to stay for a very special break - romance is key here!
