This beautiful 200 year old restored village school presents a delightful mix of antique fixtures and smart, modern fittings. The stone walls, deep marble sink, old stone oven and grand stone fireplace are all remnants of the house’s fascinating past, yet the colourful paintings and contemporary comforts keep it up to date as a luxurious holiday home. The property consists of two stone cottages in one, which form an L shape around a walled patio. Whether you rent the cottages together or apart, this is a delightful house full of warmth, which makes the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful part of the world.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The centre of the village is just a few minutes’ walk away – here you can do your shopping, have some food and go for drinks in the rustic bar. Just 5km away the small town of Ponte Caldelas, which sits beside the picturesque River Verdugo, offers a number of good restaurants, and Galicia is of course known for its mouth-watering cuisine. There is a huge amount to see and enjoy in the local area - paths that wind through woods to waterfalls, medieval architecture, panoramic views of the ocean and hills where wild horses, and even the occasional wolf, roam. The coast is only 20 minutes away and Portecelo beach in Marin, which has been awarded a Blue Flag for its clean water and facilities, is just a 30 minute drive. And if you want to stay closer to the house, there is a river beach 2km away where you can bathe and have picnics.

Interior Details
The smaller cottage has two en-suite bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two singles. The large kitchen is equipped with all the usual mod cons and the spacious living room encompasses an old stone oven, a glass-fronted log fire, a TV and DVD player, wireless internet and a CD player. The larger cottage has three bedrooms. The main room has a double bed, a private bathroom and a view towards A Lama. The other two rooms are twin bedded – one has an en-suite bathroom and a balcony and the other has use of a bathroom just across the hall. On the first floor you will find a fully equipped kitchen and a 60sqm living room complete with a glass-fronted log fire, TV/DVD/CD players and a stereo system. When you rent both cottages together you get double the facilities and you can then come together for dinner in the main house, which seats 14.

Exterior Details
Both cottages look out onto the lovely old patio, in the corner of which is a sheltered area with a barrel and stools where you can set up your own private bar. The patio doors open to the parking area and also lead to the private garden which is moulded around a spacious levelled landscape. Here in the garden you will find a large salt-filtered swimming pool surrounded by chairs and hammocks to lounge around on. On the next level of the landscape there is a BBQ shaded by trees, a child’s play house, and a separate dining area with wooden tables and benches.

Further Details
The cottages can be rented together as a single property or separately as two independent properties, and if they are rented separately the patio provides a good amount of privacy and distance. Rates include bedding, towels (including pool towels), logs for the fires and central heating. Internet access is also included, as is the use of the washing machine and dryer.

Conditions of Rental
High season is July and August, medium season is June and September and low season covers the rest of the year. Rates are different around Easter and Christmas - please ask for details. To reserve your holiday you must pay 40% of the total amount by bank transfer.
