This Victorian manor is a house for all seasons where guests can bask in comfort or enjoy a rich palette of outdoor pursuits before returning to a warm bath and a roaring fire. The lodge is well-equipped with everything guests need to have an enjoyable holiday. The bedrooms are large with big comfortable beds. The bathrooms are newly furnished with powerful fittings. There is also: a drawing room, a TV room, dining room and more giving guests the opportunity to explore, spread out and relax. In-house staff include housekeeping, chef and reserve ranger. Speak with them to personalize your stay and make the most of your time here. Delicious healthy food will be served. Feel free to make requests to suit your needs. From this fabulous base plan your day activities and head out into the wild landscape for adventure.
If you're searching for a place that will make the stresses and strains of modern life start to feel somehow inconsequential, then look no further. The sheer size and scale of the Alladale Wilderness Reserve is enough to give you a fresh perspective on life. Alladale Lodge, with its en-suite bedrooms, complimentary organic toiletries, cinema screen, sauna, gym and snooker room, offers every feature and facility you could possibly want for a relaxing and pampering break.
Alladale Wilderness Reserve’s 100 square kilometres of rugged mountains, forests, rivers and lochs are located in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, just a 1.5 hour drive north of Inverness. The Reserve enjoys its own micro-climate; and above average sunny, rain-free days.
Alladale is the perfect place to enjoy a wide range of activities, from traditional highland recreations to specialist photography and culinary breaks. Country pursuits like clay pigeon shooting and trout fishing are always popular and you`d be hard pressed to find a more picturesque setting for sports like hiking, mountain biking (free of charge mountain bikes available) and golfing on the nearby championship courses of Royal Dornoch. Alternatively really get to know the reserve by taking a guided 4x4 safari or relax with a spot of local whisky tasting.
The professional hospitality and ranger teams will do everything possible to ensure your stay is special and tailored to your needs. Visiting Alladale directly contributes to the conservation, wildlife and educational projects on and around the Reserve.
The reserve feels totally remote but Inverness is only an hour and 30 minutes away. There are regular flights to Inverness Airport from all major cities and a flight from London takes less than 2 hours. There are also trains from Edinburgh. The manager can arrange your transfers to and from the airport; car hire is also available. If you`re driving, follow these directions: from Inverness take the A9 north (towards Thurso and Wick) over the Kessock bridge. Continue on the A9 until you pass the town of Tain. At the next roundabout, take the second exit onto the A836 (towards Ardgay ad Bonar Bridge), leaving the A9. In Ardgay, turn left onto the minor road by the Kyle of Sutherland Fisheries and after about a mile you will cross the River Carron, where you should follow the road to Croick Church. After a further 8 miles, turn left at the red telephone box and continue for 1.5 miles until you reach the cattle grid, then drive carefully for another 1.5 miles on the gravel track to the Alladale Lodge.
Nearest Train Station:
Ardgay via Inverness
The lodge has 7 Double en-suite bedrooms, that can be turned into twins on request. All bathrooms come with bathrobes, towels and a selection of Alladale’s own range of organic toiletries. There is a boardroom which can accommodate up to 25 people and is fitted with up-to-date cinema equipment for conference or entertainment purposes. There is also a gym with a sauna, a massage room and an impressive billiard room. WiFi is available throughout. For the musicians amongst you, the drawing room has a baby grand piano. Linen is provided and laundry service is available.
On your doorstep are dramatic landscape, glens, hill lochs and high tops to explore, either at your leisure or guided by a qualified ranger (at a surcharge).
Alladale Wilderness Reserve offers 3 types of accommodation on site: the luxury Victorian Lodge, two comfortable cottages, and Deanich Lodge, one of the most remote buildings in the whole of Scotland. If you are coming as part of a larger group, you are welcome to book several accommodations to fit everyone. The Alladale Lodge sleeps up to 14 in 7 bedrooms. Cottages Eagle's Crag and Ghillie’s Rest are situated about 1 mile from Alladale Lodge and sleep up to 8 in 3 bedrooms (Eagle’s) and up to 4 in 2 bedrooms (Ghillie’s), so the site as a whole can accommodate up to 26 people in 12 bedrooms. Since Deanich Lodge is located a 45 mins drive (in a 4×4 vehicle) from the other accommodations, it can only be booked for groups if the character of the stay allows for it.
