One-Off Feature

At the end of a private country lane, set amongst rolling fields, hedgerows, trees and dry stone walls, and with the Bowland Fells as a backdrop, this canvas-wrapped three bedroom hideaway is the ultimate retreat, on the edge of the Forest of Bowland, near Lancaster.

General Info

With solid decking floors throughout, a wood-burning stove at its heart and three separate bedrooms, the tent is practical and stylish in equal measure. The open-plan living area is a lovely space for families and friends to spend time together and the array of casual seating, which circles a large coffee table, is the perfect spot for a glass of wine or a game of cards. Outside, you can relax on chic furniture overlooking the countryside, and further afield you can explore footpaths, villages, woodland, moors, coastline, towns, hills and valleys, waterways and lakes.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

Bleasdale Estate is situated on the western edge of the Forest of Bowland AONB, just 20 minutes from the historic town of Lancaster. From the site, there is direct access to the local footpath network, and the Stone Age circle is just a 10 minute walk away. A little further afield are the Bowland Fells, where you can walk for miles without seeing a car or another person. Keen cyclists can bike to nearby Beacon Fell Country Park or to the pretty village of Chipping with its pubs, cafes and ice cream shop, and you can also get around on horseback or via canal. There is lots of local wildlife, from deer to Hen Harriers, or you can visit the Bowland Wild Boar Park and go fishing for pike, perch, trout and salmon on one of the area’s fishing lakes. Blackpool, with its pleasure beach, Tower and aquarium, is 30 minutes away, and there are numerous stately homes and picturesque villages waiting to be explored.

Getting There & Local Amenities

Getting There:
Leave Northbound M6 at Junction 32 and take the A6 North towards Garstang. Drive through Broughton, Barton, Bilsborrow and Brock (approx. 4.5 miles). After leaving Brock turn right just before Roger's Garage (Shell), following signs for Calder Vale, Oakenclough and Beacon Fell Country Park. Go over the canal (take care – hump-backed bridge), the railway and the motorway. At the Y junction fork right. Take the next left (sign posted Chipping) and follow winding road 2.5 miles to T-junction. Turn left and after 300 yards turn right (signposted Bleasdale). Continue straight for approximately 2 miles, go through the S bends and turn left at the lodge with a "private drive" sign. Look out for the Lantern & Larks Logo. Take the first sharp turn to your right. Brooks Farm is on the left. Go up the hill and the entrance to the camp site is clearly signed on your right.

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
There are three roomy, private bedrooms – one double, one twin and one bunk room. The beds are solid pine with comfortable mattresses and plush duvet sets and there is plenty of space to hang and stack clothes and toiletries. The dining area has a pine table and six high-backed chairs and the kitchen contains a good selection of tableware as well as a butane hob. Through a wooden door you'll find the shower and WC – the shower runs off an independent hot water system.

Exterior Details
Outside the tent is a decked terrace equipped with a stylish cane sofa and armchairs, and just beyond this is your fire pit, on which you can BBQ to your heart’s content. The site is situated above a private section of the River Brock, where you can build dams, catch sticklebacks, wander down sleepy river banks, dip into quiet pools and laze in the dappled shade of overhanging trees. You can also build dens and camps in the wood behind the tents – this is a natural adventure playground for children.

Further Details
The tents will sleep six in complete comfort, but in low season if there are four people or fewer in your party, we will reduce the price by 25%. Each tent comes with a log burner and 1 basket of wood per day – extra wood can be purchased. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.  Please note that the tents are closed November - March inclusive.
