  General Info
Our charming country house lies in a 185-acre organic farm in sight of Urbino nestling in a landscape of gentle, rolling hills, rich in wild flora and fauna. Always keeping in mind the philosophy that "one should tread lightly on the earth" we grow organically our own wheat, fruits and vegetables and raise our cattle, pigs and poultry with 100% natural feed; from our fresh organic produce we make our own bread and pasta, jams, wine and traditional home cooking. In Autumn we also have truffles from our woods. The home is fitted with solar collectors, the heating system is run using renewable energy and we produce 100% of the electricity that we use through photovoltaic panels. Our first priority is the comfort of our guests. This is the perfect location for exploring the delights of Central Italy and many famous Renaissance towns.

You'll be able to discover all of this away from the crowds! The Locanda is the perfect starting point for walks and treks: it stands just a few miles away from beautiful Riserva Naturale Gola del Furlo (Furlo Gorge) with its flora and fauna (including wolves and some pairs of golden eagles), and from Parco del Sasso Simone and Simoncello with its distinctive geological formations. The beaches and rocky coastlines of Parco del Monte San Bartolo and Conero represent an interesting option compared to the typical Adriatic sandy beaches.   What visitors have said about Valle Nuova

What a wonderfully beautiful place! We feel very lucky to have been able to be guests at the Locanda. From the food to the hospitality, all was incredible. Accommodation, for me, is always so important. All of the rooms are painted in different colors. We stayed in the "blue" room. It can fit three people, so there is plenty of space to just hang out. The beds are comfortable and ... there are four pillows! The decor is clean and very cozy. What we liked best - besides all of the pillows - was the view. Just outside our windows were beautiful views of the valley. In the afternoon, we would take our naps with the window open and listen to the "free concert" that was put on every afternoon by the singing birds. (Quite a change from the Roman traffic.) The grounds of the locanda were very beautiful. We took walks around the property every day. My favorite bit were the horses and the very newly born kittens. There is also a wonderful 4 mile walk that loops around the surrounding countryside. It is moderate in difficulty, and took us approx one hour to stroll. It is a great way to check out the details of the surrounding land. Giulia, the hostess, drew a very good map for directions. There is also a pool which would be very nice in the summer months. I could go on for pages and pages about the food, but I won't. The food is almost all from the garden of valle nuova, and if not, they get it from other locals. The best part of it is that it is all organically grown. The breakfast food, is very, very good. We had a buffet of homemade jams, juice, cheese, bread and there was also cereal and coffee ... It is included in the price of the accommodation. There is an option for 25 euros each, to eat dinner at the Locanda. We didn't know what to expect the first night ... If there is one thing that you must do at this place, it is to have dinner at the Locanda as often as possible!!! They served 5 course home cooked meals. We ate three of the four nights we were there. We would have eaten there everynight, but they do not serve dinner on Wednesdays nights. We ate everything from saffron risotto, roasts, pasta, homemade onion jelly with cheese, differents meats, salads. In truth, it is an experience that you will not find in a restaurant. There is also wine from the farm. After dinner, there was, of course, homemade desserts, and homemade cordials. My favorite was the elderflower. I can not say enough about the Savini family, esp. Giulia!! They were kind, warm, and made us feel very, very comfortable during our stay. Giulia speaks english very well, which was nice for my husband who spoke no Italian, and we would often end our evening chatting over a glass of cordial. We also felt like we had ample space for relaxing on our own ... It was a very easy going, relaxing atmosphere. Ryan and I appreciated this balance of company and privacy which the Savini family have mastered so well. I also want to say that it felt very good to stay in a place that was so conscientious about solar energy use and organic farming. We felt a definite connection with the Savinis for the part that they have taken in being responsible. Logistically, you need to have a car to visit Locanda della Valle Nuova. There are plenty of charming hill top towns to visit during the day. Giulia has maps, advice etc., for all of this stuff. Fermingano is the little town down the hill. It is not much for site seeing, but you can pick up snacks there. I have traveled many places in Italy, and I have to say without reservation that the Locanda della Valle Nuova is an absolute Jewel. If you want a comfortable, relaxing, peaceful vacation, add this to your itinerary. We will definitely return. Grazie mille Giulia e famiglia!!

We reserved two rooms for three nights, travelling with our two grown kids, and ended up extending our stay. We were completely comfortable - our rooms were stylishly appointed in the 1920's era farmhouse. The pool was a fine place to while away the siesta, especially so because Giulia's kittens would come out to play - and she has puppies, too. When you're missing your pets, thousands of miles away with the housesitter, there's something very wonderful about being able to spend some time with your host and hostess' kittens and puppies. And then, the food and drink.... I don't think I've ever tasted juice more delicious than the three homemade varieties Giulia offered us in the mornings with her breads, jams, and cheeses. Dinners were precisely the sort of hearty meals prepared from local organic sources that I'd hoped for, never having actually stayed at an agriturismo before. We reserved dinner for our first night and couldn't resist staying for dinner on the following evenings. Giulia helped us map out day trips - we'd heard about Le Marche's hilltowns, but we needed suggestions about particular places to visit. We saw Urbino, of course, which is very near Valle Nuova. But her suggestions led us to places like Mondavio, an unreally beautiful little city, and to the kind of ancient walled villages that make your heart sing. And Valle Nuova itself is a place that makes you want to get out the watercolors and paint, which my daughter and I did. Best surprise at the Locanda? The aperitifs that Giulia served after dinner. She infuses them herself - she told us it makes months to do it, and knocked me out with her green walnut variety in particular, although the honey liqueur ran it a very close second.

It might probably sound boring, but being returning guests, we have to say it was great again! Love the atmosphere and great family dinners (see Giulia how we call them family dinners :) ). Thanks again for the hospitality and a wonderful vacation. We will definitely return to get some more.

These last few days felt more like we had found and spent quality time with some long lost relatives than staying in a hotel. Yesterday when we were shown the very special parts of Urbino is a memory we will treasure for a long time. The atmosphere, the food and most of all the hospitality was truly memorable. If you are ever in the North of England please look us up.

This is a beautiful, relaxing setting made perfect by friendly, helpful hosts. A perfect family business that focusses on a quality service. Food is the best we've eaten in ITALY!! We made friends with many animal hosts and take home many pictures of them. We will miss all our hosts - both human and animal. A special thank you to Julia's mother for medical attention that was very much needed and most appreciated. Again, thank you for a wonderful stay.
