General Info |
|
| |
Villa del Faro is one hour north of the Los Cabos Airport, but it is a world away in seclusion and serenity. We offer five very private casitas from the Stone Beach Cottage to the elegant Casa Alberca. It is not a place for everyone. It offers solitude instead of shops, long walks on the only swimmable beach on the east cape, hikes into the deep arroyos instead of golf, good books, great food, artistry, music, exquisite surroundings, comfortable ambiance, the sound of the ocean to put you to sleep, watching the whales play from your private balcony instead of TV, and personal care from the friendly family who run and own it. A stay in this beautiful place is more like being a guest in someone’s fabulous home, which is exactly what the owners intended. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
Villa del Faro is nestled in a green desert on the edge of the ocean in Baja California. Turtles nest on our beaches, you can swim and surf all year long. There is incredible snorkelling here and while the hotel sits in lush gardens, the surrounding desert is as pristine and untouched as it can be. The great white egret lives in our dunes and the great blue heron number among our sea birds and eagles. Nature abounds! |

Interior Details |
There are only five rentable spaces, each one quite different. The Casa Alberca is a luxury palapa with canopied king sized bed and balcony, two bathrooms, kitchen, and elegant living room that opens right onto the large mosaic pool. Off the bedroom a balcony looks out over the sea of Cortez. The Stone Beach cottage sits literally right on the beach. There is a comfy queen bed, solar lights. It has a definite fairy tale quality - a house for Bilbo Baggins! The Casitas (one of which has two suites) sit up the hill. Each offers a fireplace, full bath, and has its own private terrace overlooking the ocean. Hand-carved furniture, gorgeous rugs, tiled floors, original art and beamed ceilings combine to make this a truly wonderful place to stay.

Exterior Details |
While the hotel sits in lush gardens, the surrounding desert is as pristine and untouched as it can be. Originally a private home for a large extended family, Villa del Faro was built, as much as possible, around the cactus, leaving many trees and natural plants untouched. Always aware of the ecological impact they were making, the family chose to build little houses here and there, rather than one huge imposing structure. The result is a closeness to the desert, a sort of interaction between civilization and the wildness of nature.

What visitors have said about Villa Del Faro |
| |
| |
A perfect and beautiful place to relax and get away from reality.
Soft, white, sandy beaches, miles and miles of shore, exceptional service, and lots of sun . . . enough said.”

“Joe and I came here for complete solitude & we found it in the most luxurious way. We felt like movie stars from the forties on a secluded getaway. The food, the people, the grounds were all so very wonderful . . . Villa del Faro is like heaven on earth.”
- Joe & Angela Favre, Dec 2006

“The stone cottage defies description. Even after seeing it with my own eyes, I still hardly believe it exists. We hope to return again.”
Jodi Heinhorst & David, May 2007

“Our stay with Villa del Faro was an experience that we will never forget. We were welcomed into their family and felt right at home. The accommodations are first class and the grounds are breathtaking. It was a lovely experience. Villa del Faro is a gem on the East Cape!

“We had an amazing honeymoon in the stone cottage by the crashing waves. All the food was incredible, especially the tortilla soup. The service was great and unobtrusive. The whole visit was very peaceful and romantic. Thanks a lot also for the tour of the art and architecture, particularly the shop/studio, and for letting us use the pool..”

“Thank you for a lovely stay over the New Year holiday! Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations . . . David and I thought it was a lovely and peaceful place to stay. We loved turning the “stars” on at night and relaxing by the fire in our bedroom. The chilly night air just made it all the more cozy for us.
We enjoyed our breakfast service every morning – the hearty breakfast with delicious coffee was a great way to begin a day of hiking on the beach, making sand castles, and boogie boarding . . . Dinners were equally enjoyable – such an unusual and special place to dine and fun to try the local red snapper – it was excellent!
David and I felt that you struck a perfect balance between excellent service and allowing us the space we needed to have a relaxing family vacation. All our needs were graciously and quickly taken care of. Our rooms were beautifully decorated and fabulously clean, and really I cannot describe our time there without using the word “magical” . . . !
Thank you for a wonderful stay. We hope you are having a happy and busy New Year. We hope we can come back again soon!”
Leanne Hansen, Mill Valley, CA, Dec 2007

The stone beach cottage was charming, rustic, elegant, and romantic. The waves lapping at the seashore lulled us to sleep and our flickery fireplace kept us cozy. Our private beach made for beautiful walks watching dive-bombing pelicans & a beautiful sunrise. The setting of this refreshing hideaway is pure tranquility. Can’t wait to come back – next time longer.
Muchas Gracias.”

“Villa del Faro is a wonderful place to stay. It’s not filled with a bunch of tourists.
It’s so magical, it inspired my boyfriend to propose. I recommend it to anyone needing some relaxation . . . or a ring!”

“What a beautiful, tranquil, enchanting place. Your hospitality was wonderful, and the food devine. Thank you, and we hope to return again soon.”

“Months ago Jason and I independently found the photo of the Stone Cottage and were called to come calling. For our time here we always found ourselves saying “when we come back”, not our usual “if we come back”. This morning we realized that, short as our stay had been, our respite was as complete as if it had been twice as long. We look forward to twice as long, long into the future.
With love to the land of the shape-shifters, the magic that Mexico is from coast to coast, but so very deeply here in this land of stone and stillness.”
