The hotel offers 24 junior suite bungalows were designed to harmonize with the surrounding nature. The Restaurant Xixim serves local and international dishes, with fresh sea food from the Gulf of Mexico, and many organic and vegetarian options. Bar “El Santuario” with Wi-Fi signal and amazing views of the Gulf of Mexico. The hotel has a unique concept that, in addition to your lodging, offers you many interesting and exciting tours. Eco Paraiso is located 11 km (6 miles) north of the fishing village of Celestún, which is 90 km (55 miles) West of Merida, the capital of the State of Yucatán. The property is located in a small peninsula between the Gulf of México and an inlet of the sea which forms a great estuary. This is the famous “Ría de Celestún,” home for an incredible amount of biodiversity, which in 1989 was decreed a “Special Biosphere Reserve”. At Eco Paraiso you will find great variety of activities for the whole family: you can kayak on the tranquil waters of the Gulf of Mexico, watch the orchids and some of the 300 bird species on the interpretative paths of the hotel, climb on the Palmar Lighthouse to watch the amazing Sunsets, ride a bicycle through the coastal dunes or play volleyball on the beach, among many other activities. |

| The nearest international airport is in Merida City. There are several flights arriving from Mexico City and other parts of the country. Each bungalow has: Two queen size beds surrounded by a fine fabric net. Glass doors and wide windows so you can enjoy watching the moon before you sleep or the ocean when you wake up. A comfortable sofa for two or three persons, a coffee table and a reading lamp. Closet with a safety deposit box. Spacious bathroom with a shower designed to give you a sensation that you are showering in the open air, but surrounded with a bamboo wall to keep your privacy. Telephone. A window with a shelf where we will leave you coffee or tea in the mornings or a tray with your room service. Light switches in the room and in the terrace. Electrical connections in the bungalow and terrace. For ecological reasons the rooms are not equipped with air conditioning. Instead, 2 ceiling fans, a well-designed air circulation system and the Mayan technology, “la palapa” (thatched roof), will provide you enough refreshing ventilation.

Because of its importance as the main feeding area for the American Flamingo and countless species of waterfowl and shorebirds, in 1989 the Mexican government named the area as a Special Biosphere Reserve. The hotel is nestled on a 3 mile virgin beach, full of shells. The Sea is calm, not deep, and has abundant aquatic life. There are a great variety of Flowers in the hotel area. Main wintering area for greater flamingos, endemic birds in coastal dune scrubs; migrant and wintering water-birds, shorebirds and songbirds. From the 8 species of turtles surviving in the world, 7 exist in Mexico and 4 nest in the coasts of the Yucatan Peninsula. A female sea turtle arrives ashore at her nesting beach of Eco Paraiso Hotel in the months of April, May, June or July. Spider monkeys, jaguars, tiger cats, raccoons, ocelots and coatis are some of the mammals that inhabit the Celestun Biosphere Reserve.

Conditions of Rental |
Rates per bungalow, per night, in US Dollars, subject to change. Rates include taxes and tips on restaurant service. Children less than 6 years old (maximum 2), free in their parents bungalow. During Christmas – New Year’s and Easter Holidays, we require a minimum stay of 3 nights. At Eco Paraiso we want you to disconnect with civilization and connect with nature, that’s why we don’t have television in the bungalows. If you want to watch a T.V. program or a movie, at the Club House we have a plasma T.V. with satellite signal (with many channels from U.S.A and U.K.). We have facilities for persons with different physical capabilities; two of our bungalows have been designed for people in wheel-chairs.

We just returned from a 3 day stay at the Eco Paraiso. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay overall. I’m hard pressed to say what my favorite part about staying there was. It could be the beach (we were the only guests during our stay- so we had beautiful unspoiled beach laden with shells as far as the eye could see to ourselves) or the beautiful palapa bungalow. I think perhaps my favorite part were the trips that we took with Alex, the local biologist and guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable and interesting and we learned so much about the local fauna from him.

We loved this place. Spacious bungalows, friendly and attentive staff who would clean well and come in at night while you were out at dinner to put the mosquito nets over the beds and light the oil lamp, good service in the restaurant/bar and pretty good food.
Although there were bugs around we didn't find them especially problematic, we just wore a lot of deet and didn't get bitten..
They also offer plenty of tours, the boat trip we went on to see some of the area around Celestun and then the flamingos was excellent with a very good and knowledgeable guide.
