General Info |
|
| |
The High Cabin is wonderfully located and equipped with everything you could want for a countryside escape. Warm and cosy in winter, light and airy in summer, it is the perfect sanctuary in every season and the setting couldn’t be lovelier. Inside, the furnishings are comfortable and modern but outside the cabin is secluded and rural - you are unlikely to see anyone else during your stay, except maybe a shepherd tending his flock! Away from the world you can relax and enjoy the romance, but yet you are not far from all the delights of Conwy itself. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
The location of the cabin is such that it is both sheltered and sunny and the views of the sunsets over the mountains are unbeatable. Sitting on a ridge topped by ancient woodlands and winding tracks it is surrounded by natural beauty. There is even a hidden lake nearby. Conwy itself is a World Heritage site with a bustling quay, an imposing castle and the mountains or Snowdonia rising above it. Full of historic buildings it is a fascinating place with remnants of Edward I’s fortified towns everywhere. Conway is a perfect base for exploring Snowdonia and the North Wales Coast and it offers excellent walking, unspoiled beaches, sailing, golf and other activities all just a moment from your door. Although Conwy feels like a magical place in the middle of nowhere it is very easily accessible from the rest of the world. |

Getting There:
| The High Cabin is easy to find. But only if you know the way. We will be delighted to provide you with a map and directions when you check in. But please return them at the end of your stay, so we can keep its secret just between ourselves. Groes Inn itself is just a few minutes’ walk from Conwy train station, and from there you have access to London within 4 hours. It is also a mere hour’s drive by car from Manchester and Liverpool. The Groes is easily accessible from the A55 Expressway, which runs along the Northern coastline of Wales. From Conwy Castle take the B5106 towards Trefriw, passing under the double arches of the town walls. The Groes Inn is a little over two miles on the right. |

Exterior Details |
Outside the cabin there is a decked, heated veranda with lighting, a table and chairs, which is idyllic for wining, dining and watching the stars. Outside you will also find the enormous hot tub which is kept at a constant, and very comfortable, 37 degrees C. Lie back and relax while you watch buzzards and kestrels wheel overhead against the mountain backdrop. If you want to venture further afield then the centre of Conwy, with all its shops, restaurants and historic attractions, is not far away.

Further Details |
The Groes Inn is just down the road from the cabin and serves delicious food and warm hospitality. It was originally a small two-storey house of fifteenth century construction. As the Inn flourished in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries it was modernised and extended, being re-roofed in the eighteenth century. The interior contains some sixteenth or seventeenth century timbers and walls may be of sixteenth century origin. Over the centuries the Groes Inn has been used as a commercial inn for business and court transactions. It is now managed by the Humphreys family, and The Groes was recently named Britain’s Inn of the Year, and Wales’ National Dining Pub of the Year in the Good Pub Guide 2009.
