Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
Ruthin is a small but attractive, friendly and lively town of some 5,000 people set in the beautiful Vale of Clwyd, in a setting overlooked by the hills of the Clwydian range and the Hiraethog Moors.
The town of Ruthin was built on a red sandstone hill as a strategic lookout over the River Clwyd. A town which has over seven hundred years of recorded history, whose streets have been trodden by kings, queens, princes and travellers; it has suffered plague, battle and siege; its buildings reflect the best of architectural styles making the town an outstanding Conservation Area worthy of preservation. |

Interior Details |
2A is a deceptively spacious three storey property, which was once the servants' quarters to the larger Sarum House, built in the early 1800s. It has a clean modern interior, whilst still retaining many of the original features.
The kitchen is well equipped with cooking, griddling and baking equipment, and has a good selection of cookery books. There is crockery and cutlery for 10, and the kitchen door leads onto the courtyard, which makes for pleasant al fresco dining.

Exterior Details |
There is a small courtyard with seating which leads onto the parking courtyard, shared between the larger Sarum House and the cottage at the back. From the bedrooms there are views across trees to the distant Clwydian hills.
The small seating courtyard is a good summer sun trap - so much so that vines grow up the wall next to the kitchen door, and roses and sweet peas flourish.
The small shed is used for storing the bins, the re-cycling bags and a couple of sets of ball games for children to use down in Ruthin's large park - a five minute walk away.

Further Details |
The house has central seating, plus a gas fire which works independently of the main system. There are books galore, and various CDs (classical, ambient and pop), cassette tapes and videos. There is a large bag of lego, as well as jigsaw puzzles, cards and board games.
Low lighting makes for a relaxed evening environment for lingering at the table. The artwork on the walls is by Gillian Lewitt (scene painter, illustrator, calligrapher and fine artist) and by another family painter, Delphia Letcher.
The sitting room is a relaxed and informal room, with more artwork by Gillian and also by local painter, Helen Job, and it has a collection of ceramic and sculptural birds and animals on the shelves. There is seating for six, with two extra chairs tucked into corners for larger groups.

What visitors have said about Record St Ruthin |

Hi Liz.
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful home. We had a fantastic time!
We didn't use the two little beds in the top room. My friend had brought a couple of sleeping bags and a mattress just in case, and we ended up letting the two younger boys sleep on it in the living room because all the boys wanted to be together. Phoebe (age 7) loved the art area!!
We had a couple of lovely days out at loggerheads and bala lake. The weather was even good!!
We tidied and hoovered before we left so the cleaner should pleased when she goes in.
It is a lovely little house and it was obvious that your mum was a special lady.
Regards
Paula Jones
