Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
The Inn is right in the middle of Conwy, which is a World Heritage site with a bustling quay, an imposing castle and the mountains or Snowdonia rising above it. Full of historic buildings it is a fascinating place with remnants of Edward I’s fortified towns everywhere. Conway is a perfect base for exploring Snowdonia and the North Wales Coast and it offers excellent walking, unspoiled beaches, sailing, golf and other activities all just a moment from your door. Although Conwy feels like a magical place in the middle of nowhere it is very easily accessible from the rest of the world. |

Interior Details |
As you step through the cottage’s back door you enter an intimate courtyard with a deck, table and chairs which are perfect for al fresco wining and dining. Behind the sash windows the living room is equipped with a DVD player and stereo, plus a library of discs, and the kitchen is extremely well equipped for doing your own cooking. At the top of an original Victorian staircase an enormous king size bed awaits with crisp fresh linen, but before bed why not take a shower in the steam sauna cubicle built especially for two?

Exterior Details |
Outside, housed in its own purpose designed log cabin, sits a giant hot tub filled with water at a constant perfect temperature of 37 degrees C. Perfect whatever the weather or season! Just outside the cottage is the main house of Groes Inn, with its beamed ceilings and nooks and crannies, where you can pop for a drink or dinner, or sit and read a book in the garden or on one of the comfortable sofas. The Inn is full of fascinating and unusual furnishings. Conwy, right on your doorstep, is home to lots of interesting restaurants, wine merchants and tiny shops and its 13th century walls feel like they are guarding you in your little cottage.

Further Details |
The Groes Inn was originally a small two-storey house of fifteenth century construction. As the Inn flourished in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries it was modernised and extended, being re-roofed in the eighteenth century. The interior contains some sixteenth or seventeenth century timbers and walls may be of sixteenth century origin. Over the centuries the Groes Inn has been used as a commercial inn for business and court transactions. It is now managed by the Humphreys family, and The Groes was recently named Britain’s Inn of the Year, and Wales’ National Dining Pub of the Year in the Good Pub Guide 2009.
