General Info |
|
| |
Carregfelen is a superb, quirky, cleverly restored Manor House dating from the 14th century that provides contemporary comfort whilst retaining many of its original features. It was extended in the early 20th Century by Clough Williams-Ellis, whose Italinate village, Portmeirion, is close by. Surrounded by ancient oak woodlands, landscaped gardens and orchards, this is Wales at its absolute best! We even have a private trout stocked lake where fishing can be arranged. The house has been skilfully modernised, giving the visitor contemporary comfort, with its seven bedrooms, four bathrooms and wireless broadband, whilst keeping its fascinating history alive – old and young will love exploring the staircases and corridors. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|

This is the gateway from which to enjoy the very best that Wales has to offer – the mountains of Snowdonia, the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highlands railways; walking, sailing and climbing. Although the house is totally secluded, it is only a short drive to the pretty seaside town of Criccieth with its splendid castle and the harbour at Porthmadog. The Llyn Peninsular is the gateway to Snowdonia National Park. The castle dominated Criccieth and the small harbour town of Porthmadog with its famous Ffestiniog railway are close by, as are the excellent sailing centres of Pwlheli and Abersoch. What’s more, it’s a birdwatchers paradise, so bring your binoculars. |

I thought you would like to know that the house was presented beautifully when we arrived yesterday. It shines, and the welcome pack was really appreciated - especially the wines!

Thank you for allowing us to use the house for our holiday last week and the very generous welcome pack. Vivien gave us a very warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble to her throughout the week. Needless to say we had a very enjoyable family break so thanks once again

The whole family had a wonderful week at Carregfelen and want you to know how lovely we thought the house. It was ideal for three parts of the family - and the sun shone almost all the time, which is not always the case in Wales!
