General Info |
|
| |
La Taupiniere is located in the small Alpine village of Moléson sur Gruyères, set high amongst the summer grazing pastures for the cows producing the famous Gruyères cheese. The region is richly historical and spectacularly beautiful, sprinkled with idyllic towns and villages, each reflecting the character of its region. The chalet is situated in the canton of Fribourg, which is in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, about 130km from Geneva. The chalet is on two storeys and, as is usual for chalets, the bedrooms are on the lower floor and the living area on the upper floor. However, due to the chalet being built on a hill-side the entrance is on the upper floor. At the front door there is plenty of room to leave skis, before entering into the hallway on the upper floor to hang coats. The village has a shop, a restaurant-cafe, pizzeria, and a ski shop. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
The village is well served for winter sports, including cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, paragliding, snowboarding, and has a ski school which teaches all of these. Within a hour’s drive of Moléson you will be able to ski some world class resorts including Verbier, Villars, Mürren and Leysin. Switzerland is also a wonderful place in summer. From sightseeing and cultural visits, to sailing on the lakes and walking in the mountains – even summer skiing on the glaciers. In summer the Moleson area is renowned for its splendid walking paths. The main lifts and the two mountain restaurants are open from mid June to mid October. In the village are floodlit tennis courts, a mini-golf course, a children’s play area, archery lessons, petanque, a bob-luge and grass scooters. Trout fishing, windsurfing and pony trekking are also available locally. For the more adventurous there is rock climbing, rafting, canyoning, paragliding and other ‘extreme’ sports. |

Exterior Details |
The open plan sitting and dining area leads through large French doors onto the balcony, which wraps around three sides of the chalet but is predominately south-facing. The real luxury of the chalet is the heated 30ft pool and large sauna. The water is automatically heated, filtered and cleaned using an ultra-violet light system, fortunately meaning very little chlorine is needed. There is a pool-side sitting area with and a large shower unit. The pool room is glazed down one side with views onto the garden and up to the mountains. There are doors onto the terrace and garden, which is idyllic in summer. The chalet and garden offer glorious views of the surrounding valley and mountains and is a wonderfully restful place. The private garden is bordered by trees and shrubs and there is a large patio with a table and benches for al fresco eating in summer and it is ideal for barbecues and sunbathing. La Taupiniere is level to the quiet cul-de-sac road and has a parking area for two cars.

Further Details |
The chalet is in a superb and beautiful location for all mountain activities including skiing, mountain biking, walking, as well as golf, paragliding, tennis or just for relaxing. There is plenty to do within an hour’s drive of the chalet, more than enough to keep you amused for the duration of your stay. The chalet is an ideal destination for family ski holidays. You are not stuck up a long and tortuous mountain road like many of the larger resorts, and so it is easy to go to other ski areas if you wish, or to take a day off skiing and do something different. There is plenty of skiing to suit all abilities within easy reach, as well as plenty to do for the non-skiers. In winter the area is ideal for both downhill and cross country skiing. The beginner or nursery slopes are within sight of the chalet, some 500m away. The main lift is a funicular railway and is just a further hundred metres. The skiing area in the village is from 1100m to 2000m altitude and there are eight lifts varying from T-bars, buttons and a large cable car. The 30km of pistes cater for all standards of skier from green to black runs, but with the majority being blue and red. The skiing is great for beginners and intermediates, but there is also enough to keep the more advanced skier amused for a few days.

What visitors have said about La Taupiniere |
| |
| |
Having paid hefty price tags for Alpine holidays in the past, my stay at La Taupiniere has proved to be a revelation. A superb , clean and welcoming Chalet that retains the traditional charms of the Alps yet with modern and up to date facilities. To be able to come home after a hard days skiing to a sauna and a swim is just the perfect way to round off the day. Ski hire and skiing was available on one's doorstep, and catered for all levels of proficiency, yet easily accessible by car were some of Switzerland's premier ski resorts. The town of Bulle is only fifteen minutes by car and provides the full range of facilities, bars, restaurants, banking, and sight seeing. Even closer is the beautiful medieval town of Gruyeres with its stunning architecture and fondue restaurants. I will happily be recommending La Taupiniere to friends and clients alike, and look forward to my next visit.
