The grounds of La Lancha is the creation of leading Spanish landscape architect Eduardo Mencos. He has carried out the 18th century concept of an “ornamental farm” - a landscaped working farm with decorative features such as arbours, antique wells, water reservoirs, ruins… You won’t see a single wire or a water deposit (they are hidden underground). We grow organic olives and raspberries and breed Merino sheep which roam free around the property. Our free range hens supply fresh eggs. Solar panels produce the electricity. There are an infinite numbers of bike paths and lovely cross country walks around the farm, one of them leading to a natural water pool. La Lancha is an ideal place for excursions to nearby heritage sites such as Yuste, Guadalupe, Trujillo, Mérida and Cáceres. |

There are endless walks in the idyllic landscape, lots of waterfalls and is ideal for trekking, horse riding, cycling and water activities. The 18,000 hectare Monfragüe National Park is nearby - one of the most important reserves of Mediterranean flora and fauna. La Vera is also very rich in cultural heritage, with several historic villages nearby (Cuacos de Yusteste, Garganta de la Olla, Valverde de la Vera…). The Monastery of Yuste is only 10 kilometres away, where Emperor Charles the I of Spain and V of Germany chose to spend the last years of his life. The heritage city of Placencia is only 20 km away. |

The house measures some 500 m2 and could sleep up to 16 people though we recommend 10-12 people for comfortable accommodation.There are five double bedrooms (two with double beds and the other three with twin beds) and a mezzanine – TV room with 2 extra beds as well as a room with two bunk beds which sleep 4. Three of the bathrooms are en-suite while there are another two independent bathrooms. There’s a huge salon and a very large dining room for twelve both with antique working French fireplaces, and a charming modern kitchen (dishwasher, microwave etc) with a table for 4.

The 30 acre property includes meadows, a stream, a vegetable garden, orchards and woodlands (strawberry trees & oaks). Around the house there a several large shady terraces and a swimming pool. There is also a private tennis court. There are four mountain bikes on site for your use.

La Lancha is located in the heart of La Vera, the North Eastern region of the Cáceres province in Extremadura. It is a paradise for Nature lovers with its beautiful landscapes. The protection of the Gredos mountains creates a microclimate which permits subtropical plants such as tobacco and palm trees to grow. Closest village is Jarandilla de la Vera at 7 kilometres.

Rental |
Rental rate includes everything - there are no extras to pay -including 3 hours maid service a day. A 20% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your reservation. The balance is due 6 weeks before arrival. Deposit of 500 euros is held against damages & breakages, to be refunded on departure. Daily maid service (cleaning and laundry) included in the price.
