Can Xargay is in the heart of the Pla de l’Estany, and is an ideal place to spend a while relaxing. The house is able to accommodate up to 20 people. It has 8 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms as well as a kitchen, a large sitting room with television & DVD, plus air-conditioning and central heating. The garden has a barbecue and private swimming pool of 6x3 meters for exclusive use of visitors only. The house’s perfect location allows you to explore the nearby area, and that around the Banyoles lake, either on foot or by bike. Being located in the middle of the Girona region also means you are ideally placed to go a little further afield too, should you wish. Banyoles itself features the Olympic lake which hosted the rowing events in 1992 and the lake is widely recognised not just for its beauty, but for its environmental significance – the house is just 2km from the lake. The lake apart, Banyoles’ town centre houses the origins of the medieval town itself. Built in the shade of the Sant Esteve Monastery, the town first took shape in the 9th century. Cobbled streets, little squares and cozy corners, civil and religious buildings, art and the water flowing through the canals from the lake all come together in a wonderful town centre. The house is walking distance from shops and restaurants, 35 km from the beach (Costa Brava), and 115km from Barcelona. Getting There:
| If coming by road, take the AP-7 (E-15) motorway. Take the sixth exit for Banyoles. Then go for 9km. along the C-66. Finally, take the road which goes to Mata-Banyoles Sud (C-150a) and at the first traffic light that you come to, turn right. After nearly 100 metres you will find the house, situated at the left of the Mata´s church, near the prohibited direction road signal. |

The climate of the Pla de l'estany region is typically Mediterranean, with the nearby coast giving nice temperatures throughout the year. During the spring you will see from 8ºC at night to 33ºC at the day (from 46ºF to 91ºF). Summers are pretty warm, from 15ºC to 35ºC (59ºF to 95ºF), while Autumn and winter both tend to be cooler with temperatures as low as 0ºC at their lowest.

"We are six couples from California. We were greeted last Saturday here by the warm and friendly Xargay family who were so kind and helpful throughout our stay. We enjoyed field trips to the Pyrenees, Figueres (Dalí museum), Pals and Peratallada, l'Escala, the Garrotxa area, walks around the lake and the sardanas and habaneras during the Festa. This is such a great area, with a lot to do, and we had a most memorable holiday. Thanks so much for maintaining such a comfortable home for us. We'll always remember our stay here!"
