The Old Stable has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a large open plan kitchen/lounge with fireplace. All efforts have been made to restore and keep the old features such as hand-thrown solid brick and stone walls and old beams. However, modern comforts have also been kept in mind hence the wonderful rain effect showers and aerothermic under floor heating. Asturias is an enchanting place to visit all year round, from the carnivals in February and the fiestas in September to Christmas markets in December or the quieter periods when you can soak up the atmosphere at your leisure. During Spring, Autumn and Winter, you can explore the region at your own pace and after a day of sightseeing you can return to a cosy house with the log fire crackling merrily away. |

Asturias is the perfect place for getting off the beaten track without feeling isolated. Overlooked by the usual sun, sea and sand crowd, it is blissfully unspoilt, yet it has an energy to it that is hard to describe. The beaches are made for strolling along as you listen to the waves, and the fishing villages dotted along the coastline are known for their picturesque beauty and delicious gastronomy. Fancornio Rural is ideally placed for enjoying a visit to the new cultural centre in Aviles, designed by Oscar Neimeyer, or for visiting the old town in Oviedo with all of its wonderful architecture. The busy port town of Gijon is also worth a visit. With activities like canoeing, hiking and horse riding right on your doorstep, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the natural beauty of this part of Spain. We are 12kms from the nearest big town or fishing village. There is a nearby bar/restaurant serving regional dishes and (of course!) the local cider. |

| If you come by car we are about 3 kms from the nearest motorway junction - Montico on the A8 heading towards Aviles. For comprehensive driving directions, please see the website. Alternatively, you can easily make your way to Fancornio by train, plane or bus. Several low cost airlines fly into Asturias airport, Gijon train station is not far away, and local buses run from Gijon to very near the house. |

The Old Stable can sleep up to 8 and is over 1,000 square feet in size. For sleeping it has a baby crib, 3 double beds, 1 studio couch, and 1 twin bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped with a ceramic stove top, a child's high chair, a coffee machine, cooking utensils, a dining table, a microwave and all the amenities you would expect. The house also has a washing machine, although a laundry service can be provided. For entertainment you have wireless broadband, a telephone, a TV and comfortable seating. The house is kept cosy by central heating, under floor heating, a fireplace and a wood stove.

The house has its own entrance at the side of the property and its own private garden and patio area. This is partly covered to deal with all weather conditions and can be adjusted to suit you. The relaxing gardens have a BBQ charcoal grill, deck chairs, a private terrace and a table and chairs for eating al fresco. The house also has a private balcony from where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful region.

Rental |
Smoking is allowed outdoors. Pets are permitted, by agreement, and a housekeeper can also be arranged. All linen is provided. The cleaning charge is 25 euros, a 50% reservation deposit is required and we ask for a security deposit of 100 euros. Bicycles are available to rent should you wish to explore the surrounding countryside at your leisure.

Excellent; extremely helpful people; wonderful location. Easy access to places of interest and the beach. Accommodation very good. The best thing was the helpful owners - nothing was too much trouble! A fantastic holiday, highly recommended for couples, families with small children, families with teenagers, groups of friends .... everyone, really!

My first visit to the beautifully tranquil region of El Valle in Asturias, I was taken into another world where farming is still practised by hand with a sythe, and wonderful Horreos converted into lodgings, in particular 'Fancornio' have been done with style. Tastefully decorated, modern and fresh surroundings with the green hills and peaceful walks leading to neolithic stones, tasting the fruits of Asturias in the form of cidre, the traditional and entertaining way, make sure you don't have your best shoes on! Opens your eyes to a different view of Spain. Just a hop skip and a jump away from wonderful mountain tracks, beaches and lovely fishing port towns and mountain villages. All of this together with the added bonus of having fabulous hosts, a warm welcome and super friendly! A wonderful place worth going back to year after year. Thank you Terri and Juan for a great holiday.
