General Info |
|
| |
The Molino is a very special place, part of the building dates back to the Moorish occupation of Spain. The gardens shaded by fig, mimosa orange and almond trees, with the sound of the river rippling by, are unbeatable to enjoy the long lazy summer afternoons. many guests return year after year. Gaucin and the valley of the Genal river are in the Serrania de Ronda, Andalucia, an outstandingly scenic area of mountains and river valleys. It is an area of white villages, often crowned with Moorish castles To the North, beyond Ronda the peaks give way to rolling countryside while to the South the mountains run almost to the seashore . The main road south from Gaucin reaches Algeciras, where a short ferry ride to Morocco is an easy day trip. From Algeciras the coast road climbs the headland marking the beginning of the Atlantic coast, wide sandy beaches quite different from the Mediterranean. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|

The pretty white village of Gaucin is only twenty minutes away by road from this villa in Andalucia and has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The whole area is one of great scenic beauty with many outstanding places within a short driving distance. The pleasant, not too big, coastal towns of Estepona and Sabinillas are forty minutes drive for those who fancy a dip in the Mediterranean. A good day out can be had in Gibraltar, only an hour away, or even Tangier in Morocco with an early start. Another interesting visit is Ronda, only just over an hour away by a stunningly scenic road thrugh the Sierra. Ronda, with its famous gorge, Arabic and Roman remains, and many other sights is one of Andalucia´s most famous towns. Or you can take the scenic railway, from tiny Colmenar, in the morning, all the way to Ronda and return in the afternoon in time for tea. |

Further Details |
Hosts, Paul and Dawn have lived in Andalucia for many years and have a wealth of knowledge about the area. Paul and Dawn are happy to advise on where to visit, from a selection of local restaurants to a scramble to the top of Sierra Crestellina, the Snowdon sized peak overlooking the valley, Paul can on occasion, with a promise of cold beer to follow, be persuaded to act as guide to the top. There are any number of walks to do and beauty spots to visit, by car or on foot within easy striking distance. A walk up the river is one of the most popular with guests. Peace and tranquility are assured at this villa in Andalucia, a natural rural retreat set in a paradise, far from the madding crowd. Guests always leave rejuvenated.
