General Info |

It is an ideal spot for walkers, nature lovers or people who are looking for a getaway. It is also perfectly situated for accessing Aracena to sample the excellent local restaurants. Seville is only an hour away and it is possible to head into Portugal, or down to the coast in a couple of hours. Rio Tinto is half an hour from Aracena (on the way to Huelva). It hosts the well known mines and has a mining museum which is set in the old hospital built by the Scottish in the early nineteenth century. Merida is an hour and a half’s drive from Aracena. It has a spectacular Roman amphitheatre, circus, Diana's Temple, ruins and an excellent museum, so well worth a visit, perhaps taking in Zafra, a charming old town, as well. Get started early as main sites close for lunch at 2-4pm! |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
There’s lots to do and see in the surrounding area. The castle (now in ruins) and a church (locally called the Cathedral), can be reached by car, foot or by a small tourist train that takes you round the village as well. Some of the most spectacular caves in Spain are situated underneath the castle. The viewing takes up to an hour and consists of 12 rooms and 4 lakes. There are some fabulous restaurants where you can savour the local delicacies, especially Iberican pork, local ham and sausages. The village has all the necessary amenities – post office, supermarkets, banks, internet etc. Huelva is the capital of the Huelva province where Aracena is situated. It is a large city which has our nearest beaches of Punto Umbria and El Rompido, which are about and hour and a half drive away. Sevilla iss the capital of Andalucia, a large city, only an hour’s drive from Aracena. |

Exterior Details |
The detached cottage has a private patio overlooking a countryside of cork oaks and olive groves. Further down the hill is the main farm house with a swimming pond which is available for your use. The idea with the pool is to keep chlorine to minimum levels by oxgenating water in the adjacent pond. The water is crystal clear!

Further Details |
Aracena is situated 80km from Seville and 110km from Huelva, which is the capital of the Huelva province and also has the nearest coast. Set in one of the largest Natural Parks in Spain, the countryside is full of Cork Oaks, Holm Oaks and Sweet Chestnuts. The wildlife is wonderful, especially in the spring (March/May). The birds that can be seen include storks, booted eagles, hawks, buzzards, hoopoe, herons, tree creepers and nightingales. Flowers at this time of the year are spectacular, especially if it has been a good rainy autumn...In autumn the local chestnut groves are a wonderful sight and quite often with happy pigs eating the fruit.
