Ronda, known to locals as the 'The City of Dreams', has a fascinating history and is situated in one of the most beautiful areas of Southern Spain. The newer part of town is a bustling area of small shops, bars and restaurants and the site of Andalucia's most famous plaza de toros. To the east of the town is the pristine Sierra de la Nieves national park, recently declared a Unesco Biosphere Reserve and just ten minutes to the west is the Grazalema Natural Park, home to some of the most diverse flora and fauna in Spain. A series of traditional ‘Pueblos Blancos’ (white villages) are all within easy driving distance. The walking and birdwatching here are amongst the best in Europe. The nearest beach is at San Pedro, less than an hour away whilst the unspoilt beaches of the Atlantic coast can be reached in a little under two hours. This is a superb location from which to explore Andalucia. |

Further Details |
The Estate is just five minutes west of Ronda, on a quiet country lane, in the beautiful Llano de la Cruz valley. To one side of the estate are spectacular views of the Sierra de Ronda and to the other a beautiful vista of fertile, undulating farmland. Celts, Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs all passed through this area which was eventually re-conquered from the Moors by the Catholic Monarchs. The oldest part of the town of Ronda, the original citadel fortress of the Moors, lies to the east of gorge, a labyrinth of winding streets with ancient mansion houses, churches and enchanting little squares. This ancient hill town straddles the extraordinary Tajo, a narrow gorge that plunges to a depth of more than 150 metres. There are breathtaking vistas from many of the bars and restaurants out across the gorge to the surrounding mountains. If you're in search of an idyllic villa in Andalucia, this is the place!

Just a quick note to say thank you so much for such a marvelous holiday! Even though on paper 10/11 fallen soldiers with a sick bug and a house move in the middle of the holiday we all agree that it was the funniest and happiest of times. The accommodation was so well above what anyone would ever expect these days, comfortable beds, marvellous quality sheets, large proportioned bedrooms (most unlike Spain!), smooth walls instead of pebbledash, enough knives and forks to feed an army instead as one would expect, odd numbers and most missing, clean tea towels, beautiful hand soaps, dishwasher tablets, a welcome hamper of the like I have never seen and would never expect, really good cusions and sofas, a DVD collection that would rival any Blockbuster, super soft towels and swimming towels - unheard of in all the other Spanish properties we have rented. All in all you really, really spoilt us and we had the best time we could have ever have hoped for. We adored all the meals you cooked for us. Shall be in touch with our plans for Summer 2011.

A home from home but in the glorious warmth of Ronda rather than the rain of Devon. We had a fabulous restful time and will surely be back for more. Thanks Caro. PS. We're also both in love with your cat!

Wow! What a fun filled holiday. We loved meeting Mr & Mrs Truffles (brown labradors), so sweet. Beds extremely comfortable. Delicious food. Extremely friendly and attention to detail in every way. Thank you Caro XXX

Just wanted to say we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It's completely lived up to all expectations and surpassed them. The villa, pool and grounds are all beautiful and have provided the perfect setting for our daughters and us. It is rare for us to decide we would return to the same destination and/or villa - but we can all honestly say that we would love to return one day (probably next year!!) Thank you once again.

Caro, thank you so much for being a gracious hostess. We couldn't have enjoyed our stay in your villa and Ronda more. The accommodations were lovely and generously stocked! It made us feel welcome right away. Your recommendations for day trips and restaurants were very helpful. We especially enjoyed the Molino del Santo in Benaojan and El Morabito in Ronda. We could not have asked for a better introduction to Spain.

We just wanted to thank you once again for your many contributions to our Andalucia getaway in early December. Finca Maridadi is a delightful place to relax. It's quiet and secluded, yet centrally located amid the region's major attractions.
You were a first-class hostess, and helpful to us in so many ways. All of your recommendations of local restaurants and sights were spot on. And the dinner you cooked for us was delicious.
We'll always remember the Alhambra and the Pueblos Blancos and the stone-cooked veal at the restaurant on our last night. We hope to return some day.

The first thing we said when we arrived was " We could live here!". Not only is the house and setting a welcome respite from the noise and crowds of the cities but more importantly the hospitality and fabulous breakfast and the very relaxed atmosphere made it like heaven. Thank you!
