Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
Montecorto is a quiet, friendly village. There are a number of bars and restaurants including one in the pine forest where you can have al fresco meals. There is a bakery, four small grocery stores, banks and chemists. A lot of the fruit and vegetables for sale in the village come from the fertile terraces beneath the village. If you prefer to shop in supermarkets, there are a couple on the outskirts of Ronda. We provide arriving guests with a booklet listing our favourite bars and restaurants, interesting visits in the area, maps of the village, of Ronda and of the surrounding area, a history of the house and general information about the villa in Andalucia. The owner of El Tejar is the author of 'Walking in Andalucía' and can provide walkers with a full week of walking itineraries in the area. Jerez is just an hour away and Granada, Sevilla and Málaga can all be easily visited as day trips. And two of the prettiest of the 'pueblos blancos', Grazalema and Zahara. |

Further Details |
2 hours of daily cleaning help from a charming, and very discreet, Spanish maid is included in the weekly rental price for this villa in Andalucia. What is so unique about El Tejar is that, if you should wish, Francisca can also prepare meals for you. She can either prepare a wide range of 'tapas' for you - these are made in her own home and then delivered to you for your lunch or dinner. Or she can also cook a full 3 course meal three course meal (minimum of 4 people) which will be served to you at your candlelit dining table. Francisca uses organically grown vegetables from her husband's vegetable plot, proper stock in her soups, and prepares delicious meat and fish dishes. She will serve you at dinner and clean up once coffee/herbal teas have been served in the sitting room or beneath the stars on the terrace.

What visitors have said about El Tejar |
| |
| |
Best villa holiday so far. Don't miss out on the chance to try Francisca's food.
Kids enjoyed meeting the village kids down at the Piscina bar, and they enjoyed trying out their Spanish - bettr than mine it must be said...
We recommend that you have at least one meal out at the Lago restaurant in Zahara. Beautiful location looking out across the reservoir and the food was top notch.
Also recommend the wine from the Schatz bodega just outside of Ronda. We did a tasting there and had cases sent back to the UK.

Spent two heavenly weeks at El Tejar - which passed far too quickly. Loved the house and the village which has all that you need in the way of shops, bars etc. We especially liked Bar La Piscina - the food is so inexpensive, how do they do it that cheap?

El Tejar is a magic! We knew it would be nice after having friends recommend it to us, but it was even better than they had described it to be. We loved all the art work and music - it felt like a real home rather than a rental villa.
We liked the proximity to Ronda yet the location is tranquil. Even in January the pool looked tempting so guess we'll need to return later this year to test the water.
Be sure to try out a few of the walk's in the owner's hiking guide. We did The Walk of the Hidden Valley and saw eagles, vultures and a family of ibex on the flank of the Sierra de Juan Diego.

Very nice quiet and well decorated house, with lovely views. We also like the home cooked food prepared by Paqui and recommend that you try her tortilla. Nice to be able to walk to shops and the restaurants and friendly village people.

Gorgeous house...we only wish that we could live here! Enjoyed the book collection and recommend Guy's guide 'Walking in Andalucía'. We have done 7 of the walks now, but favourite still is the Salto del Cabrero.

We have just returen from our third stay at El Tejar, our second home in Spain! This place is simply the tops: great views, lovely daily help in the form of Paqui, and beautiful walks straight out from the house. We watched eagles soaring overhead nearly every day and recommend visiting the villages of Zahra and Grazalema which are very close as well as Ronda.

Wonderful houes, wonderful village and a wonderful area. We have booked again for next year and would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in a cosy and homely place. Our kids appreciated having internet and we appreciated all the books!

This was the nicest rental home we have ever found. We loved the house, the friendly village, and Paqui the housekeeper. We ordered some of her homemade food several times and she was also able top babysit for our children which meant we could visit Ronda. Monetcorto is very quiet but also very friendly and you can find all you need in the village shops.

Best family holiday for years. The house ticked all the boxes, village delightful and Francisca a star act. Didn't do as much as we had planned - were loathe to laeve El Tejar.

We have been back to El Tejar every year since we first found it. The house is lovely, full of character and very comfortable. The village of Montecorto is full of lovely people and has convenient shops - an opportunity to speak spanish! The location of El Tejar is fantastic, the views from the house are breath taking and the walking around the mountains with out equal. The owner, Guy, is a charming fount of knowledge about everything local and beyond. We would like El Tejar to be a best kept secret so that we can always book "our" week - but that would be selfish, so go ahead and stay, you won't be disappointed.

I stayed in El Tejar in Montecorto in March with a few friends and was delighted with the individuality of the place. Each en-suite bedroom is uniquely styled and the house is in a perfect location. Montecorto is a genuine Spanish village and the people are really friendly. We loved getting to know the little local bars and restaurants where we spent rather too much time! My husband was pleased to have a fast internet connection...

We have recently returned from a break at El Tejar in the delightful village of Montecorto, outside Ronda. If you want to catch a glimpse of real Spanish village life, this is the place for you! The way of life has changed little here, slow and friendly with just a few small, local shops where people take the time to say hello. We loved to stroll down to shop for ingredients for our meals and buy organic veggies from the fram just below.
El Tejar is a real gem - tranquil and relaxing, tucked away high above the village with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The rooms are charming - simply but stylishly furnished, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Paqui was such a help to us and prepared wonderful food - her tortillas are not to be missed.
A lovely place to relax!
