Fontanar is a traditional Andalucian village where time stands still. A short walk takes you to a restaurant, bar, small supermarket and bakers. Fontanar also has a viewing point (mirador) - the views over valleys, fields and mountains are absolutely breathtaking. The area is rich in wildlife with the Sierra Cazorla National park close by. You can expect to see eagles, vultures, kites and wild boar. A 10 minute drive will take you to the magnificent Lake Negratin, one of Europe's largest lakes. Lake Negratin is stunning with its turquoise waters and a backdrop of towering red cliffs. The lake provides excellent swimming and there are pedalos for hire. On the lakeside there are beaches and restaurants and also wonderful thermal springs, used since Roman times, which you can relax in after a sumptuous Andalucian lunch. |

Unspoilt rural Andalucia with stunning mountainous scenery, views of olive groves with Sierra Nevada in background. Fontanar is close to Sierra Carzola national park, a UNESCO biosphere. Granada and the Alhambra Palace are just over 1 hour away. The area is rich in wildlife including Eagles and Vultures. The nearby Lake Negratin with 32kms of shoreline has swimming, beach, lakeside restaurants and pedalos. Thermal baths provide year round warm waters to relax in. Historic towns of Ubeda, Baeza,(UNESCO sites) Guaddix and Baza all less than 1 hour. The scenery in this part of Spain is simply stunning. Exploring by car is a pleasure on good uncrowded roads. |

Casa del Fuente is a detached cave house with three bedrooms which sleeps six in comfort. There is also a lounge with DVD player and a selection of films for all the family. The dining room has an eight foot rustic antique table and seats 8. There is a modern fitted kitchen with washing machine. There are two bathrooms. The house is decorated in traditional Andalucian style and furnished with an eclectic mix of antique and ethnic furniture.
