Casa Uno is a very private villa in Andalucia in a small hill-top inland village. It offers you all the convivial pleasures of Mediterranean courtyard living which Spain inherited from the Romans and the Moors. The local market town is LA CARLOTA about 3 miles from the villa in Andalucia, where all the normal necessities of life can be obtained in abundance. La Carlota is by-passed by the main SEVILLE-CÓRDOBA motorway (freeway), providing rapid southwards access to Jerez, Cadiz and Portugal, and northwards to Madrid. Using the excellent motorway network, Córdoba is 25 minutes from Las Pinedas, Seville airport 1 hr, central Seville 1 hr 20 mins, Málaga 1.5 hrs, Málaga airport 2 hrs, Granada 2 hrs (add 20 minutes for the Alhambra). Each of the great Moorish cities has its ancient wonders: CÓRDOBA has the Mezquita, an immense mosque dating from the 8th century; Seville's Alcazar is a Moorish palace built for a Christian king with glorious Moorish gardens, the Alhambra at Granada is the last and most exquisite of all Moorish palaces - but access is nowadays rationed and you need to book well in advance for an entry time. |

Getting There:
| Most UK-based low-cost airlines fly to Málaga – two hours on to Las Pinedas by road - now virtually all motorway. Ryanair, Clickair and BA/Iberial fly to Seville – one hour on to Las Pinedas – all but last 3 km motorway. Train-lovers may like to fly to Madrid, and experience the high-speed AVE train to Córdoba – 450 km in less than 2 hours. Cars can be hired at all these destinations. If you want to drive, allow the better part of three days for the drive straight from UK to Andalucía using Eurotunnel or a car-ferry. Ever faster ferries from Plymouth to Santander (Brittany Ferries) and Portsmouth to Bilbao (P&O) may cut your journey time to nearer two days. With the extension of Eurostar’s full service into St. Pancras it will be possible to travel by high-speed train all the way from London to Córdoba. |

Further Details |
Las Pinedas is a small working village founded some 200 years ago as part of the re-colonisation of Andalucía, consisting essentially in two parallel streets and a village square with a simple Church – Casa Uno is in the square, looking across to the Church. The village has a small self-service store and a single bar which is very rustic, but the landlord's wife is a wonderful cook and we often eat there. The village is high on the Southern foothills of the Guadalquivir valley and there is invariably an evening breeze even on the warmest days. The entire village of Las Pinedas has been promised full broadband access via WI-FI this summer. Blackberries and other PDAs are fully-functional here. There is an internet café in nearby La Carlota. Additional services by arrangement including daily cleaning, Spanish cookery, a drive for a day or half day and Bodega visits.

What visitors have said about Casa Uno |
| |
| |
We have enjoyed our month in Casa Uno very much. It has provided the base for a fascinating vacation. The location of the house is excellent for day trips, but on the days we didn’t travel, Casa Uno provided a quiet sanctuary in which to rest, read and swim. The kitchen was great; the washer and dryer have been a tremendous boon. The atrium and the pool have been so lovely to look at. Maribel and Lolo have been unfailingly helpful and charming. And Maribel’s paella is not to be missed!

Beautiful home! Thank you for your kindness, Nicholas and Maribel.

This has been our second visit to Casa Uno by special request of our children. We’ve had an extremely relaxing and lazy time and return to England refreshed.

We have had a marvellous time in your beautiful villa. We’ve eaten too much, enjoyed the wine and the sunshine, and not done half the things we came here to do as we were too distracted by the pool, the table tennis and the bookshelves. As an introduction to Andalucia this week has been fantastic.
